Sunday 15 February 2015
F.A Cup Fifth Round
Bradford City 2 (Clarke 3, Stead 62)
Sunderland 0
Kick Off: 2.30pm
at the Coral Windows Stadium

Attendance: 24,021 (4,253 visitors)

Phil Parkinson's super City moved to within one win of another trip to Wembley after deservedly defeating Premier League Sunderland to secure their spot in the F.A Cup Quarter-Finals.

Roared on by a colourful and vocal capacity crowd, Parkinson's Bantams swept aside their North East opponents thanks to a deflected early strike from Billy Clarke and a second half effort from Jon Stead that squirmed under the body of visiting shot-stopper Vito Mannone.

Clarke's goal may ultimately go down as a John O'Shea own goal after the attacker's shot hit off his fellow Irishman but there was no doubting Stead's effort - a goal which keeps the forward's run going of scoring in every round so far.

The victory - played out in front of the biggest attendance seen at the Coral Windows Stadium in its current configuration - means City have now got the better of five out of the six Premiership sides they have faced in cup competitions under Parkinson.

It is also the first time since 1976 City have reached the quarter-finals of the world's most famous domestic cup competition.

76min: McArdle is back on the pitch to bring City up to eleven players once more.
75min: McArdle's head wound has opened up again, forcing him off the pitch to get more treatment and leaving City down to ten men once again for the time being.
73min: Hanson plays the ball across to Stead and the forward's low angled drive from just outside the box trickles towards Mannone as the 'keeper dives to his right.
70min: As Meredith pressures Johnson after Mannone had pushed a Clarke cross down into the box, ball runs free to Stead, who fires over with a first time rising strike on the turn.
69min: Stead tees up Knott for a shot from just outside the box but the midfielder's rising drive is straight at Mannone.
67min: YELLOW CARD - Billy Jones is booked for catching Clarke late from behind midway into Sunderland's half of the pitch.
62min: GOAL!!!! Bradford City 2 Sunderland 0 - The Bantams double their lead! A poor attempted clearance from Johnson only finds Hanson on the edge of Sunderland's box and the forward's header towards strike-partner Stead plays him in with a sight of goal. Stead takes a touch before firing in a strike that squirms under the body of Mannone and over the line.
59min: A ball hooked in behind City's back-line as Johnson interested and the winger's attempted lob over Williams from just outside the box is deflected just over the top of the 'keeper's bar.
57min: Williams has to make a couple of brave punches to repel a Larsson corner and then a Johnson delivery back into the box. The pressure is finally relived on City's goal when Williams pushed into by Wickham as the ball tangle for another high ball and a free-kick is given.

39min: Ricardo Alvarez plays the ball across the area to van Aanholt, who sees his goal-bound shot take a little deflection on its way through to Williams. The Bantams shot-stopper does well to keep out the spinning shot but City can hook the ball away from danger.

36min: YELLOW CARD - Larsson is booked for bringing down Billy Knott a couple yards outside Sunderland's penalty area.

18min: What a tackle from McArdle! Sebastian Larsson's delfected drive drops into the path of Fletcher deep inside the box. Nearly every player in the ground stops thinking the Scot is offside but play continues, leaving the striker with only Williams to beat. As Fletcher steadies himself to fire for goal from close range, however, McArdle makes a superb recover tackle to nip the ball off his toes.
17min: Fletcher plays Adam Johnson in with a sight of goal deep inside City's penalty area but the attacker's first strike from a tight angle is blocked by a diving tackle from McArdle before Johnson's follow-up is gathered up by Ben Williams.
