CLARKE HAPPY TO PLAY HIS PART

16 February 2015

Bantams attacker Billy Clarke is happy to claim an assist for City's stunning F.A Cup victory over Sunderland this Sunday, even if he knows he is probably fighting a losing battle to lay claim to the Bantams' opening goal!

Clarke was initially credited with City's opener during their fifth round win against the Premiership side before replays seem to show that the forward's effort was going wide until it hit John O'Shea, leading to the effort eventually being put down as an own goal by the Sunderland skipper.

Clarke added: "Apparently it was going wide but I've seen the ball come to me through a few players and I've just hit it. I've certainly caused the goal at least. I would like to claim it!

"The early goal certainly helped but we still had to be alert against a top quality side.

"Even after our goal, they have got in a couple of times and Rory (McArdle) has made a couple of fantastic blocks. We had to stay mentally alert and switched on for the whole game.

"It was nice to get the early goal to give us something to cling onto at half time.

"We've done more than that in the second half, however, and it has put us on the way to this win.

"Whoever we get in the draw now, we just have to embrace it and enjoy this run that we are currently on."
