MILLWALL MAKE PSBRU DONATION

3 January 2015

City's hosts this Saturday, Millwall, made the generous gesture of donating £1,000 to the Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit (PSBRU) at the University of Bradford ahead of the F.A Cup third round tie at The Den.

The £1,000 donation came in the form of a cheque from the London club which was presenting to City joint-chairman Mark Lawn shortly before kick off this Saturday afternoon.

The Championship side made the donation to help towards The F.A and Premier League, Football League's efforts to raise £300,000 for the PSBRU to mark the 30th anniversary of the Valley Parade fire disaster.

To mark the 30th anniversary of the disaster, all Premier League and Football Leagues matches over the weekend of April 25/26 will hold a minute's silence ahead of kick off to honour the lives of the 54 City fans and 2 Lincoln who sadly passed away.

One of football's greatest tragedies occurred at Valley Parade on 11th May 1985 where Bradford City were playing Lincoln City in a Division Three fixture.

That same afternoon, Millwall were beating Plymouth Argyle 2-0 at The Den in front of a 13,460 crowd to effectively secure promotion to the Second Division.

City were one of The Lions' great rivals that season, pipping George Graham's side to the Third Division title by four points to gain promotion alongside Millwall.
