During Mourinho's first spell in charge at Stamford Bridge, Morais earned his first professional contract in football with Chelsea having starred in their youth set-up.
Although he never made a first team appearance for Chelsea, Morais did get plenty of opportunities to work with the legendary manager, including when he was named on the bench by Mourinho for Chelsea's F.A Cup tie at home to Huddersfield Town in January 2006.
Still remembering the words of advice Mourinho told him nearly a decade on, Morais has nothing but praise for one of the most successful managers the modern game has ever seen.
Morais: "He was brilliant with me - I can't speak highly enough of him.
"If you don't know him and you only see him through the media, sometimes he might come across as arrogant. But he is so down to earth and so great with the younger players.
"When he first came in, he got me straight in the first team group and got me really involved.
"I travelled all pre-season with them and I played in his first (pre-season) game.
"He gave me lots of advice and I still remember the words he told me many, many years ago.
"He was fantastic with me and it will be nice to see him again and say hello.
"His attention to detail and man management is second to none. He is such a great motivator.
"He takes talented players and he makes them run through brick walls for him. His players always have such formidable work-rate to go with their talent, that is why his teams are so hard to play against and he wins so many trophies.
"I've played at Stamford Bridge before but with the youth team. I was in the squad a few times with the first team but I never got on unfortunately.
"It will actually be quite exciting for me to go there this weekend and play in front of a full house in a competitive first team game.
"The one game I was involved in, we were losing at the time so Jose brought on Arjen Robben instead of me. He came on and got an assist and made the difference so it was probably the right decision!
"At the time, Arjen Robben was just one of a number of real good wingers in the squad so it was tough for me.
"But it was a great experience to learn from all those amazing players."
Knowing Mourinho as he does, Morais is fully aware that City can expect a tough ride at Chelsea this weekend - but that hasn't stopped him from dreaming about an upset.
Morais: "We know that it is going to be a tremendous challenge for us because Jose never lets his teams have any complacency and they are always ready to go from minute one.
"Football is football though. This is the F.A Cup - anything can happen.
"Chelsea is one of the best teams in England, so we are up against it, but we also have threats in our team.
"Chelsea are clearly the favourites for the match but the gaffer (Phil Parkinson) will have a plan for us and we have to implement it to the best of our ability.
"For me personally, I can't wait to test myself against the best and see how I can match up against them.
"We have worked really hard to earn the right to play Chelsea and it is nice to have the reward of playing up against some of the world's best players.
"It will be a really good day out, especially for the fans, and the opportunity to play one of the best teams around.
"We want to do ourselves justice and do the club proud and the fans proud.
"We have a load of fans going down to the game and we want them to enjoy the occasion and we want to do the very best we can do for them all.
"We want to go there and express ourselves and dream about the possibility of causing an upset."
