PICKFORD SET FOR ONE-GAME BAN

10 January 2015

Bantams shot-stopper Jordan Pickford is in line for a one-game ban following his red card during the first half of Saturday's Sky Bet League 1 fixture with Rochdale at the Coral Windows Stadium.

Pickford was given his marching orders for bringing down Rochdale's Matt Done inside the box when the striker was through on goal - an incident that also led to the visitors being awarded a penalty.

Should, as expected, the dismissal be put down as 'denying a goal or goalscoring opportunity' in the referee's match report, then incidents of this nature usually carry a standard one-match suspension.

Given that Pickford is not eligible for cup games for City, however, the Sunderland loanee now looks set to miss the Bantams' league match at Yeovil Town next weekend along with this Wedneday's F.A Cup replay with Millwall.

All players looking to play in an F.A Cup replay, such as Wednesday's tie with Millwall, need to be registered as eligible to play before the original match.

With Sunderland not allowing Pickford to play in the original third round tie at The Den a week ago, the 'keeper may not be allowed to serve out his ban this Wednesday and may have to do it against Yeovil three days later instead.

Talking about the incident, Bantams boss Phil Parkinson said: "The decision to send off Jordan is a wrong one from what I can see.

"The lad (Matt Done) has gone round him but the ball looked to be rolling out of play, plus the fact there were covering defenders going towards our goal.

"It cannot be a red card in my opinion."
