WE'VE EARNED THIS OPPORTUNITY

20 January 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson believes his side fully deserve to be walking out and standing toe-to-toe with Premier League leaders Chelsea this Saturday.

Parkinson's men travel to Stamford Bridge this weekend for the club's eagerly-anticipated F.A Cup Fourth Round tie against the seven-time winners of the competition.

City's progress to the fourth round is the first time the club have won three ties to get to this stage of the world famous cup since the 1975/76 campaign - a season where the Bantams went on to lose to eventual winners Southampton at the quarter-final stage.

While City's chances of making the quarter-finals this time around might be up for debate, Parkinson reckons there is no doubting his side should make the most of their opportunity to play Jose Mourinho's world superstars.

Parkinson said: "We were all disappointed by the Yeovil Town defeat on Saturday but we won't let that affect us too greatly.

"We will dust ourselves down, take it on the chin, and look forward to what will be a great occasion for the football club.

"We have the prospect of a terrific match against Chelsea and we will be ready for this exciting week for everyone connected with the club.

"The lads have fully earned the right to get this far in the competition and to make the most of a game like this.

"We will enjoy the preparations and the extra attention that comes with it.

"We've come through a tough local fixture at Halifax, beaten Dartford and then overcome a side from the league above us (Millwall).

"We now have this fantastic tie to saviour against a top team and a top manager. We will be giving it everything we have this week to make sure we play to the very best we can come Saturday."
