The Bantams endured a frustrating day on their long journey south after struggling Yeovil Town hung on for a hard-fought victory over Phil Parkinson's men.

A single goal the opening period from Chigozie Ugwu, making his second debut for Yeovil, was enough to send City crashing to a disappointing defeat.

The striker netted his match-winner midway through the half when he latched onto a flick on from Kieffer Moore following a Sam Foley free-kick from deep into the area before beating Jordan Pickford from close range.

Uguw's goal came during a slow opening to the game for Phil Parkinson's men but the Bantams were the dominant side thereafter.

As City gradually worked their way into the contest as the first half came to a close, Billy Knott flicked a header narrowly over the bar from a James Meredith cross in first half injury time.

The second period saw City enjoy the lions' share of possession as they looked to push Yeovil back and force their way into the contest once again.

James Hanson, who had seen a decent first half opportunity held by Jed Steer, fired wide with a first time shot from close range after latching onto Jon Stead's cross early after the restart.

Parkinson's men kept knocking on the door as the second period progressed but they couldn't break through Yeovil's defences.

Substitute Alan Sheehan fired an injury time free-kick wide of Steer's near post, while Pickford also tried to threaten for the Bantams from one last corner, but it wasn't to be for City.

79min: Yeates runs at Nathan Smith with menace but his shot-come-cross from an acute angle crashes into side-netting by Steer's near post.
77min: A long throw-in into the box by Meredith eventually drops into the path of Knott but the midfielder snaps at his shot and his strike on the turn from just outside the box bobbles harmlessly wide.
74min: Morais' cross into the area is met by Hanson but his glancing header bounces a yard or so wide of Steer's far post.
68min: Ugwu flicks on a cross into the area in the direction of the lurking Loza but Pickford bravely dives at the striker's feet to claim the ball before him.
66min: Yeates cuts inside onto his right foot from a wide left position but his eventual strike on goal from just outside the ball flies over Steer's bar.
64min: With Ugwu back up and playing, complete with head bandage, the game can restart again.

59min: SUBS - The Bantams bring on Mark Yeates and Francois Zoko for Halliday and Stead respectively.
58min: Big chance for City! Stead plays the ball across the area but Hanson's connection from just inside the six yard box isn't the cleanest and his first-time effort flies wide into the City fans behind the goal.
56min: Davies gets powerful header onto Morais' corner delivery into the box but the ball goes behind Knott and out for a goal-kick.
46min: Stead's cross into the box is knocked back by Knott into the path of Halliday but Leitch-Smith gets back to dispossess the Scotsman for a corner before he can get a shot away.

45min: There will be three minutes of time added on at the end of the first half.
43min: Morais' cross into the box finds Knott but the midfielder's effort on the half-volley is scuffed and bounces comfortably wide of Steer's near post.
41min: After his initial corner delivery is headed out, Foley puts the ball back into the area towards Ajay Leitch-Smith but the striker's header from just inside the box is held comfortably by Pickford.
38min: YELLOW CARD - After getting away with only a talking to following a late tackle on Andy Halliday earlier in the half, Joe Edwards is booked for catching Knott just inside City's half of the pitch.
36min: After receiving the ball from Morais, Stead feeds strike-partner Hanson into space but the forward's low drive from the edge of the box lacks the power and pace to trouble Steer.
33min: Stephen Darby plays a one-two with Stead just outside the box but the right back's eventual shot is deflected up and loops comfortably into the arms of Steer.
32min: Morais' lofted free-kick into the box is headed forward by Davies but Jed Steer is able to gather the ball comfortably before a City player can get anywhere near.
28min: Foley takes a loose ball on the chest before firing in an effort on the half volley that bounces narrowly wide of Pickford's far post.
26min: GOAL - Yeovil Town 1 Bradford City 0 - Ugwu fires Yeovil into the lead. Foley's free-kick from deep is flicked on and Ugwu holds off McArdle before firing a low angled drive into the far bottom corner.
25min: Jamar Loza moves away from McArdle but his low drive from just outside the box is straight at Pickford.
24min: Meredith and Pickford tangle as the pair look to deal with a Ugwu through pass towards Ralph. Pickford kicks the ball out of play but Meredith takes a whack in the process. The Australian is able to carry on soon after.
21min: A poor touch from Nathan Smith allows Jon Stead to lead a dangerous City counter-attack. Stead tries to play Knott in on goal but the pass is slightly behind the midfielder and he is eventually dispossessed on the edge of the box by a strong tackle from Twumasi. Knott requires a spot of treatment following the tackle but he is able to carry on soon after.
20min: YELLOW CARD - James Hanson is booked for pulling back Nathan Smith as the defender strode forward into City's half of the pitch.

12min: Andrew Davies and Rory McArdle need to get their head on the ball as City struggle to clear a Nathan Smith cross into the area. The danger eventually passes, however, when Chigozie Ugwu fires high over the bar with a half volley from the edge of the box.
6min: Sam Foley plays the ball across the pitch to Seth Ofori-Twumasi from a Yeovil Town free-kick but the right back's rising drive from around 25 yards out goes comfortably over Jordan Pickford's crossbar.
