CITY CONTINUE THEIR SCOTTISH TRIP

16 July 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says City's time in Scotland continues to go largely to plan as the squad enter their fourth full day north of the border.

After arriving at their hotel base just north of Glasgow on Sunday evening, Parkinson's men have been able to enjoy the splendid facilities around them, including a UEFA spec football pitch.

During their time in Scotland so far, City have also taken part in a friendly with Motherwell on Tuesday at Grangemouth Stadium - a game which Parkinson's squad won 3-0 thanks to goals from Greg Leigh, Alan Sheehan and James Hanson.

Parkinson said: "It has been really good for the lads so far - very beneficial.

"We've had some good training sessions here and then the excellent work-out against Motherwell on Tuesday.

"Wednesday was an easier day for the players after the game but we will now be starting the build up to the St Mirren game on Saturday.

"Once again yesterday, we had the early morning group in the pool before breakfast at 8:00am.

"After that, the whole squad was on the training ground. The players who started the Motherwell game had a lighter session than the lads who came off the bench.

"The group then had the afternoon to themselves after lunch. Some of them played golf, some of them went shopping in Glasgow, and a few of the lads decided just to relax in the hotel.

"We are still waiting for the results of the scan on Joe Brennan's injury. We should hopefully get that later today (Thursday) though.

"We have to say, apart from Joe's injury, it is so far so good.

"Joe's injury has been the only down point of the whole trip so far really. On the whole, our time here in Scotland has been a very positive experience so far."

Following his move to City at the start of this week, new signing Mark Marshall has managed to be a part of the Bantams' time in Scotland.

Although Marshall didn't feature in Tuesday's friendly win over Motherwell, Parkinson is still pleased that he could get the winger into the club in time for the journey north.

Parkinson said: "When you are talking to players, you always want to get the deal done as quick as you can.

"Especially when your game is all about energy like Mark's is, we just wanted to get the deal completed and get him up here (Scotland) and train with us so he didn't miss anymore of pre-season.

"He has done some training on his own beforehand but we got him in a training session with Nick (Allamby, Head of Sports Performance) and Steve (Parkin, assistant manager) on Tuesday morning to see where he was.

"He is naturally a bit behind the rest of the lads but I feel Mark will be a really good signing for us.

"He adds something different to the squad, which is what we have been looking for - some real pace and dynamism.

"He is settling in well with the other players and he is making progress in terms of his fitness."
