PARKINSON STILL WORKING AWAY

27 July 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson has assured fans that he and his staff are still working away to improve City's squad going into the new season.

With just under two weeks to go until their season opener at Swindon Town in Sky Bet League 1, Parkinson's men made it four wins out of five in pre-season on Saturday with a friendly victory over Carlisle United at the Coral Windows Stadium.

Ahead of Tuesday's trip to Whitby Town though, Parkinson admits he still feels the need to add more depth to his ranks.

The City chief acknowledges that not all of his extra signings may happen before the trip to Swindon but he is targeting four or five new faces before the closure of the summer transfer window at the end of August.

Parkinson said: "We need several players still.

"Defensively, we want to add cover there but there are also other areas of the pitch we are looking to strengthen.

"We really feel for Filipe (Morais) after his injury but we can't let that affect us as a squad.

"We wish Fil all the very best and we will give him the best rehab we can once he has had his operation but we have to happy with that right-hand side as well in his absence.

"There are players we can go out and get.

"We will certainly be busy at work before the (summer transfer) window closes.

"We have the Whitby game coming up on Tuesday and we will get together as a group of staff to decide who plays in that one."
