17 June 2015

After weeks of waiting, City's staff and players finally know their first League 1 opponents for the 2015/2016 season - Mark Cooper's Swindon Town at the County Ground.

The match, which will take place on Saturday 8 August 2015, will see City take on last season's defeated Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off finalists after the Robins lost 4-0 to Preston North End at Wembley last month.

Following the Swindon opener and a visit to York City in the Capital One Cup Round 1, Phil Parkinson's men will entertain newly-promoted Shrewsbury Town at the Coral Windows Stadium on Saturday 15 August 2015 for their first home game of the new campaign.

The Bantams will be back on home soil shortly after the Shrewsbury encounter with Gillingham scheduled to visit Valley Parade just three days later (Tuesday 18 August).

City then round off August with their first Yorkshire derby of the season away at Barnsley (Saturday 22 August) and a home match with Port Vale the Saturday after (29 August).

Should City make the Capital One Cup second round - scheduled for Tuesday 25 August 2015 - they face the prospect of seven games in the first three weeks of the new season.

September opens up for City with back-to-back away matches against Oldham Athletic (5 September) and Fleetwood Town (12 September).

After time spent on the road, however, those away games are followed with with two consecutive home fixtures.

Sheffield United will be the visitors for the Coral Windows Stadium's first Yorkshire derby of the season on Saturday 19 September before Peterborough United are scheduled to arrive in BD8 seven days later (Saturday 26 September).

City will then end the month of September with a long Tuesday night trip to Colchester United (29 September).
October has a very local feel to it for the Bantams for the most part with away matches at Rochdale (3 October) and Doncaster Rovers (17 October) plus home games against Blackpool (10 October), Bury (20 October) and Wigan Athletic (24 October).

The only long distance journey for Parkinson's men in October will come on the very final day of the month - 31 October - with a trip to London to face Millwall.

Following a break for the newly-named Emirates F.A Cup first round, City's next League 1 action will see them host Crewe Alexandra at home (14 November) before visiting Scunthorpe United the Saturday after (21 November).

City end November with a midweek home game against Coventry City (24 November) and an away trip to Walsall four days later (Saturday 28 November).

After a possible F.A Cup second round tie on 5 December and a home game with Southend United (12 December), the Bantams face four matches in fifteen days over the festive period.

Chesterfield away (19 December) is followed by a Boxing Day fixture at home to Burton Albion (26 December). City then end their 2015 fixtures with a mouth-watering trip to Sheffield United (28 December).

The Bantams' first fixture of 2016 is long one - away at Gillingham (2 January 2016) - City's furthest trip of the season for a league fixture.

City's first home match of the new year sees them welcome Barnsley to Valley Parade the Saturday after (9 January 2015) - providing Parkinson's side don't make it into the Emirates FA Cup third round.

Further home fixtures in January against Oldham (16 January) and Fleetwood (30 January) are due to come, with an away game at Port Vale (23 January) sandwiched in between.

Noteworthy games in February include trips to Blackpool (27 February) and promotion-contenders Peterborough (13 February).

The match at Burton Albion (Saturday 6 February 2016) will surely bring back many happy memories for City supporters following the club's League 2 Play-Off semi-final triumph at the Pirelli Stadium back in 2013.

Interestingly, City's only fixture at home at present in the month of February is against Rochdale (20 February).

March will kick off, however, with a home game against Colchester (Tuesday 1 March) before the short journey across the Pennines to visit Bury (Saturday 5 March).

Games at home to Doncaster (Saturday 12 March) and away at Wigan (Saturday 19 March) will bring City up to the Easter period, which this season will be towards the end of March.

City's two Easter fixtures over the Bank Holiday weekend are scheduled to be Millwall (home) on Saturday 26 March and Crewe (away) on Monday 28 March.

April will begin for the Bantams with back-to-back Saturday home games against Scunthorpe (2 April) and Swindon (9 April) before away matches at Shrewsbury (Saturday 16 April) and Coventry (Tuesday 19 April).

The Bantams' penultimate home game of the season is against Walsall (Saturday 23 April).

City will finish off their campaign on the road for another year with the long journey to Essex to play Southend (Saturday 30 April).

The club's final fixture of the 2015/2016 campaign will be at home to Chesterfield on Sunday 8 May.
