IT MAKES SENSE TO EDINBURGH BANTAM

5 June 2015

You may have read previously about Bradford supporters living in other countries getting in on the #onefournine act by buying their very own Season Ticket, despite living hundreds, if not thousands of miles away from the Coral Windows Stadium.

A City supporter for many years, Dean McGrevy has put his heart and head together and come to a decision to buy a Season Ticket, knowing of the value for money, despite living over 200 miles away in the Scottish Capital, Edinburgh.

‘I have been a Bradford City supporter for 30 years, the first game I ever attended was the game against Lincoln City in 1985, the fateful day of the Bradford fire. I was in the Kop that day, and was a lucky one.’Dean began:

‘I got to the age where I wanted to watch live football so I started to watch Bradford City as it was my hometown team!’

‘Before I moved to Edinburgh in 1995, I used to have a Season Ticket for a couple of seasons and attended a few away games, although it was mostly home games that I attended.’

Despite the obstacles of work commitments, and the location of where he lives, Dean still tries as often as possible to watch the Bantams in action – although his choice of game last season didn’t turn out to be the best one.

‘The Season Ticket price is fantastic! Depending on work commitments, I sometimes attend about 5 or 6 games per season. Last season, due to a change of job, I only managed the Preston home game.’

When it all came down to deciding whether to purchase a Season Ticket or not, Dean realised that it all added up and made sense to do so. At just the equivalent of £6.47 per game, should he attend all 23 home league fixtures, it’s a no-brainer, especially with the match-day prices going up to £25.00 per game.

‘With the increase in match day prices, it makes sense for me to buy a Season Ticket, if I attend 6 games again this season, I will have got value for money with it being £25 per game now. Hopefully I can attend more games, having a Season Ticket gives me the added incentive to come to more home games.’

The Bantams have had their fair share of success in the last few seasons, and Dean managed to make the long haul from Edinburgh to London, to see City play twice at Wembley during the 2012-13 season. With the success has come the televising of the games, and this has been ideal for him in an attempt to keep track of his team.

‘I attended both the Capital One Cup Final and the Play-Off Final games, flying down to London from Scotland on both occasions, which was great.’

‘City seemed to be on TV constantly which was great for me, watching on from Edinburgh, as I saw plenty of games.’

Dean explained how it’s not just him north of the border who supports Bradford City, but also some of his friends have been converted into Claret & Amber faithful, with thanks to his pro-Bradford preaching.

‘My brother is also a Season Ticket holder, and I try to spread the gospel in Edinburgh and have turned a few of my friends into Bradford supporters!’
