LIDDLE GETTING READY FOR FOOTBALL RETURN

19 June 2015

Bantams midfielder Gary Liddle knows that excitement levels are building among players and supporters alike as time ticks down towards the return of the football action.

Liddle, who married his long-term partner Leanne during the summer break, was one of a number of City players who were put through their paces at Apperley Bridge on Thursday before full training starts again in just over a week's time.

Other members of Phil Parkinson's squad went through the same session the previous Thursday.

The off-season 'fitness test' days were organised by the club's Head of Sports Performance, Nick Allamby, to ensure Parkinson's men are still fit and raring to go come the beginning of pre-season.

Liddle said: "This is the first time this has happened to me at the club. I'd never known this before moving to Bradford.

"Every manager and fitness coach likes players to spent the summer break differently. Our fitness coach here, Nick Allamby, likes to get the players in for one day over the summer just to make sure we are in the right shape come the start of pre-season.

"From a players' point of view, it just keeps you on your toes with just over a week to go until the start of pre-season training.

"With the fixtures coming out, there really is an anticipation now to get going again.

"It is an exciting time for the players and the fans because we all know that the return of football isn't too far away."
