PARKINSON ASSESSES EARLY SEASON MATCHES

18 June 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson has acknowledged that the club's season opener at Swindon Town will be a testing one but he still feels City's fans will have a lot to get excited about this season.

Parkinson's Bantams were handed a trip to last season's defeated Play-Off finalists Swindon first up following the announcement of City's 2015/2016 fixture list on Wednesday.

A day earlier, City were given a trip to local neighbours York City in the first round of this season's Capital One Cup.

Parkinson said: "Swindon had a good season last time out so it will be good test for us to start with.

"Swindon is a challenging fixture but we have two home games to look forward to quickly after that.

"Shrewsbury are newly promoted and will be in good spirits while we know Gillingham well having gone up with them in 2013.

"There are a lot of local teams in the league next season so it should be an exciting division for fans.

"The York tie is a good draw for us. Bootham Crescent is a terrific little ground - I've always enjoyed going there.

"It is a local derby so it one we will be looking forward to."
