LEAGUE 1 NEXT SEASON SHAPING UP ALREADY...

5 May 2015

Following the conclusion of the regular league schedules for the Sky Bet Championship, League 1 and League 2, Phil Parkinson's Bantams now already know nineteen of the twenty-three teams that they are due to face in the league next season.

Thirteen of City's fellow competitors in League 1 during the 2014/2015 campaign will definitely remain in the division next season after Coventry City, Colchester United and Crewe Alexandra all kept their places in England's third tier on Sunday.

Joining those thirteen teams and City in League 1 for the 2015/2016 season will be Millwall, Wigan Athletic and Blackpool from the Championship, plus Burton Albion, Shrewsbury Town and Bury from League 2.

City, of course, played Millwall twice earlier this year during their F.A Cup third rounds ties with the Lions.

The Bantams' previous trip to Wigan will also be a memorable one for many Bradford fans following City's dramatic penalty shoot-out victory over the Latics in the Capital One Cup back in 2012.

In that same season, Parkinson's men also made their last trip to Burton's Pirelli Stadium for a League 2 Play-Off Semi-Final with the Brewers.

Exactly two years ago today (5 May), goals from Nahki Wells and James Hanson helped City overturn a 3-2 first leg deficit to book the Bantams' place in the final at Wembley.

The remaining four spots in League 1 for next season will be made up by the three losing teams competing in this year's League 1 Play-Offs and the winner of the League 2 Play-Offs.

Fixtures for the new Premier League and Football League seasons will be announced on Wednesday 17 June 2015.
