Premier League giants Arsenal retained the FA Cup after a comfortable 4-0 victory over Aston Villa thanks to goals from Theo Walcott, Alexis Sanchez, Per Mertesacker and Oliver Giroud.
Sanchez's goal took him to four for this season's competition, leaving him one behind Stead, Preston North End's Paul Gallagher and West Browmich Albion's Saido Berahino at the top of the scoring charts.
Stead's five goals all came within the first five rounds of the competition for the Bantams. His goals came against FC Halifax Town, Dartford, Millwall (replay), Chelsea and Sunderland.
The forward also set up Billy Clarke's goal against Dartford plus Andy Halliday and Mark Yeates' strikes at Chelsea.
