WE HAVE A GOOD CORE...WE MUST BE PATIENT TO ADD TO IT

15 May 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson knows he will have to be patient over the course of the next couple of months as City look to build up a competitive squad for the 2015/2016 season.

After leading his side to an F.A Cup quarter final replay and seventh spot in the League 1 table, Parkinson knows he has the foundations already in place for a good group for the new campaign.

Over the course of the summer months, Parkinson is keen to add to these foundations with players who can challenge for starting berths and strengthen his opening line up.

To secure players of that calibre, however, Parkinson is sure he will have to play the long game if he wants nail down their signatures.

Parkinson said: "As we've said before, we have a decent core of players here at the club going into the summer.

"We won't be sitting back and relaxing during the summer though. We have a decent core here but we know we have to add to it to make us stronger than we were last year.

"My aim is to keep improving us each year. To do that though, you need to bring in good additions.

"Not just additions to the squad but players who can improve the starting eleven as well.

"We are working towards that but, as ever, it is all about being patient.

"When you are going for the top level players who you can afford, you are normally up against other clubs for their services.

"When you have that competition for a player, it normally takes meetings after meetings before anything is decided.

"We have to sell them a vision of Bradford City.

"Our aim is to get players in the building over the summer and during pre-season who will improve the starting eleven, not just the squad."
