Emirates FA Cup First Round
Sunday 8 November 2015

Attendance: 2,640 (350 visitors)

The Bantams will be in Monday night's Emirates FA Cup second round draw after playing out a hard-fought goalless draw with National League side Aldershot Town at a gutsy EBB Stadium.

In difficult conditions and up against determined opponents, City avoided a cup giant-killing by securing a replay with the Shots at Coral Windows Stadium, picking up a third clean sheet in a row in the process.

Hosts Aldershot enjoyed the better of the openings in the first period, with Ben Williams needing to produce a fine save to repel a fierce drive from Jim Stevenson towards the end of the half.

Phil Parkinson's men dominated after the restart, however, as they pushed their non-league opponents back on a number of occasions.

City's best chance of the half probably fell to Billy Clarke but the Irishman, starting his first game since August after injury, saw his curling effort from just inside the box tipped around the post by home shot-stopper Phil Smith.

The replay between City and Aldershot is set for a week on Tuesday (17 November 2015) - kick off 7:45pm.

FT: Aldershot Town 0 Bradford City 0
90+2min: McArdle heads over from McMahon's late corner.
90min: There will be three minutes of time added on at the end of the game.
90min: YELLOW CARD - After escaping a caution for earlier fouls, Brodie is booked for tripping up McArdle inside City's penalty area.
88min: McMahon's free-kick delivery from around twenty-five yards out sails wide of Smith's far post.
85min: City keep the ball alive inside deep in Aldershot territory following a short free-kick from deep involving McMahon and Darby. The ball eventually drops to Knott just outside the box and the midfielder's effort on the bounce is deflected behind for a corner.
83min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Mark Marshall for Reid.
81min: Hanson beats Smith to McMahon's delivery from a wide free-kick but his header goes over the bar. Referee Mr Toner says that Hanson's header took a nick off an Aldershot player, leading to another City corner. Hanson meets the second set-piece delivery but his prods comfortably over on the volley from close range.
76min: YELLOW CARD - Burke is booked for tangling with Brodie during a challenge for an aerial ball.
75min: Darby's hanging cross towards the far post is headed down by Hanson towards Cole. The substitute striker fires for goal on the turn but the effort doesn't quite have the power or accuracy to trouble Smith, who gathers up first time.
74min: Reid's cross into the box drops down into the path of Hanson, who feeds McMahon. The midfielder shoots for goal from an angle but his effort flashes wide of Smith's near post.
73min: SUB - Aldershot bring on Tom Richards for Browne.
70min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Devante Cole for Billy Clarke.
64min: A forward run from Charlie Walker towards City's penalty area eventually sees the ball break free into the path of Browne, who feeds Brodie in space over on the far left hand side of the box. Brodie tries to get into a threatening position by beating Darby but the right back sees the ball out for a corner.
62min: Damon Lathrope's flighted free-kick from just in front of the away dug-out appears to get caught in the wind, leading it to swirl towards City's goal and eventually bouncing over the bar.
60min: Reid's cross into the box just sails out of the reach of Billy Clarke in the middle before going across the Aldershot penalty area and over to the far side.
57min: Stephen Darby's determination and desire sees the right back work the ball into the path of Billy Clarke inside the box. Clarke looks to bring the ball down and get a shot away but his efforts are halted by a well-timed tackle from Saville.
54min: Both McMahon and Brodie are perhaps to escape without even a booking after the duo seemingly raise their hands towards each other. Brodie goes down after his contact from McMahon to see Aldershot awarded a free-kick and nothing else, despite a talking-to for the City midfielder from referee Mr Ben Toner.
48min: McMahon's corner delivery is met by Hanson but his close range effort is deflected behind for another corner. McArdle makes a great run to meet McMahon's second set-piece seconds later but his seems to mistime his jump slightly, however, and his header sails comfortably over the bar.
47min: Billy Clarke turns away from the attentions of Jack Saville before firing in a low angled drive from just inside the box that Smith tips around his far post.
46min: With City now attacking down the slope in the second period, the first few aerial balls forward seem to have been held up in a slight wind.
46min: Aldershot restart the tie.
HT: Aldershot Town 0 Bradford City 0
45min: There will be one minute of time added on at the end of the first half.
43min: McMahon's flighted free-kick into the box from deep is headed across goal by McArdle. Billy Clarke and Reece Burke try to force home afterwards from close range, with the ball possibly striking Brodie on the arm during the scramble. The ball eventually drops out to the waiting Knott on the edge of the area and the midfielder's first time strike is headed over right in front of his own goal by Beckles.
36min: Reid and McMahon have swapped wings for the moment, with Reid now looking to attack Aldershot's defence from the right flank.
35min: Williams produces a fine save to tip Stevenson's strike from outside the box around the post! Smith's long kick forward was headed on by Brodie into Stevenson's path and the midfielder's drive was brilliantly pushed away for a corner by the City shot-stopper.
31min: Beckles is back on the pitch now.
29min: Aldershot are temporarily down to ten men at the moment with Omar Beckles off the pitch receiving treatment for a bloody nose.
28min: Charlie Walker knocks the ball back into the path of Jim Stevenson and the midfielder's drive on the bounce from outside the area deflects a yard or so wide of Williams' goal for an Aldershot corner.
18min: Latching onto Billy Clarke's clever back-heel, McMahon in space on the right drives the ball into the box from the byline but his cross is held by Phil Smith at his near post.
17min: Ben Williams is out bravely to knock clear Jim Stevenson's clipped forward pass into the box, with the goalkeeper taking a whack from the nearby Brodie for his troubles.
14min: Dan Walker's ball into the middle flashes across the six yard box, narrowly missing the lurking Brodie in the middle and Rhys Browne behind him.
13min: Charlie Walker robs Gary Liddle of the ball around thirty yards from City's goal before driving down the hill and towards the penalty area. Walker knocks the ball past Rory McArdle as he continues his progress forward before last-man Reece Burke makes a vital tackle just outside the box to dispossess the striker.
3min: The ball falls into Kyel Reid's path after Aldershot fail to properly clear a Tony McMahon cross into the box but the winger's goal-bound effort is blocked by Cheye Alexander.
2min: Dan Walker bursts past James Meredith before fizzing in a teasing cross that Richard Brodie looks to pounce on. Brodie's scrambled effort for goal is blocked, however, before City do just enough to prevent Charlie Walker getting a shot in on goal himself.
0min: The Bantams kick off the tie. They will attack up the slope here at the EBB Stadium in the first half.
