CITY STARS ATTEND THE BROADWAY GRAND OPENING

6 November 2015

Members of the football club were on show this Thursday for the grand opening of the much-anticipated new shopping centre in Bradford, The Broadway.

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson and City winger Filipe Morais were in attendance when the main ribbons were cut at 10:00am on Thursday morning to officially open the various entrances of the £260 million shopping arena.

Professor David Sharpe from the Bradford Burns Unit and Ajay Mahajan of the PSBRU (Plastic Surgery and Burns Research Unit) joined Parkinson and Morais at the opening.

After helping to open the main doors to the shopping centre, X-Factor star Alexandra Burke entertained the gathered crowds with a number of hits.

Later in the day, City midfielder Billy Knott and club mascot Billy Bantam took to the main stage at The Broadway as part of the day-long celebration to mark the opening of the centre.

The Broadway shopping site is 570,000 sq ft and boasts more than 70 restaurants, cafes and shops. Initial consent has also been given for six-screen cinema and a further 11,500 sq ft of restaurant space in the future.

Retailers there include Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, Next, Topshop and River Island.
