PARKINSON REFLECTS ON BOWERY ARRIVAL

20 November 2015

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson believes new loanee forward Jordan Bowery will come to the Coral Windows Stadium hungry to prove a point with City.

Bowery became the latest member of Parkinson's squad when he signed on loan from Championship side Rotherham United this Friday.

Parkinson moved for the 24 year-old former Aston Villa forward after James Hanson twisted his ankle during Wednesday's FA Cup first round replay win over Aldershot Town.

Although Hanson's injury isn't believed to be too serious, it did Parkinson a little short in the striker department given Steven Davies' knee problem until Bowery arrived.

Parkinson said: "With Hans being out injured and Steven Davies also out for obviously a lot longer, it just left us with Billy (Clarke), Luke James and Devante (Cole) up front.

"Billy is only just back from a long term injury as well, so we just felt we were a bit short of numbers in that department.

"Jordan is a great athlete and he is good in the air. He makes good runs in behind the opposition's back four and he showed a real hunger to come here and join us which is always pleasing.

"He's come into the building today (Friday) with a smile on his face and ready to get to work with the rest of the lads.

"He has a point to prove and he'll be a terrific addition for us.

"We look forward to working with him."

With Hanson ruled out of the trip to Scunthorpe, new signing Bowery could be in line to make his City debut at Glanford Park.

James Meredith will not be risked after a fitness test on his injured foot and Reece Burke is still sidelined with minor knee ligament damage, meaning Nathan Clarke and Greg Leigh are set to remain in City's back four against the Iron.

Parkinson added: "Unfortunately all three are definitely out for Saturday.

"It is clearly a blow for us, and it adds to the players already on our injury list.

"We have about 8-9 lads on there at the moment but we have to deal with it the best we can.

"We are enjoying the challenge of dealing with this bit of adversity, and it is up to the lads selected for the game to put in another good performance."
