Fresh from the club's victory at Scunthorpe United at the weekend, Parkinson's men welcome table toppers Coventry to the Coral Windows Stadium in their latest Sky Bet League 1 fixture.
City will go into the game nine matches unbeaten and with six straight clean sheets in their pocket but Coventry themselves will come into the evening fixture in very good form.
Tony Mowbray's men climbed to top spot on Saturday with a 4-1 thrashing over previous leaders Gillingham at the Ricoh Arena - Coventry's fourth straight league win.
If the prospect of the leaders of the division arriving at the Coral Windows Stadium this Tuesday wasn't exciting enough already, Coventry's previous two matches at Valley Parade have seen eleven goals scored.
City ran out 3-2 winners on the opening day of last season, whilst a Nahki Wells hat-trick helped Parkinson's side to a 3-3 draw the season before.
Parkinson said: "We've had some very entertaining games at home to Coventry in the last couple of seasons and this could be no different.
"Tony (Mowbray) has done a great job getting the players he has into their club.
"They have had a tremendous win at the weekend as well so I really do think everything is in place for a terrific match. Both sides will be going for the win.
"We'll be reminding the players of what we've done well in recent games.
"That is how you keep getting results.
"We've set ourselves up nicely for Tuesday's game but we will be keeping our feet firmly on the ground.
"Coventry are a very good side and we have been preparing for this match since the minute we got back on the coach on Saturday.
"We have to keep doing what we've been doing but better.
"It is almost like playing a Championship side in a cup tie and raising your game for that. The sides who finish at the top of this division will be Championship sides next season so we have to raise our game again to meet that standard.
"It is always great to come into a home game after an away win but we have to keep improving.
"The minute we start patting ourselves on the back and listening to the plaudits, our form will start to dip.
"We are not prepared to let that happen. There are areas of our performance that we can improve on and that is what we want to do come Tuesday night."
