The Bantams moved to third in the Sky Bet League 1 table with a hard-fought victory over Swindon Town at the Coral Windows Stadium.

Billy Clarke swooped twenty minutes into the game to net the important match-winner for Phil Parkinson's men, securing their fourth straight 1-0 win in the process.

Clarke's goal came after a long throw-in into the box by his namesake Nathan bounced into striker's path and the Irishman sent a looping header goalwards.

With Lee Evans putting pressure on him nearby, Swindon shot-stopper Tyrell Belford was unable to get a strong hand on the ball and the effort just dropped over the line before Jordan Turnbull could hook away.

The goal was just reward for Parkinson's men after they had totally dominated the opening exchanges of the first period.

Jamie Proctor and Lee Evans threatened later in the half before Swindon began to enjoy a greater say in the contest as the game moved towards the interval. 

Ben Williams held onto a drive from just outside the box by Jermaine Hylton to keep City in the lead going into the break.

With Swindon at times playing as many as six men in midfield, the visitors enjoying large spells of possession in the second period but they struggling to turn it into any real meaningful attempts on City's goal.

Doughty went on one particular menacing run for the Robins but Stephen Darby nipped in vitally to kick behind after the Swindon midfielder had burst into the box and evaded a couple of challenges.

Fabien Robert and Doughty then fired wide with efforts from outside the box later in the half while Louis Thompson saw an effort also from distance held by Williams.

Swindon appealed for a penalty nine minutes from the end when James Brophy went down in the box but referee Mr David Coote deemed Nathan Clarke's contact on the left wing-back wasn't enough to send him tumbling to the ground and allowed play to continue.

The victory was City's fifth home win on the trot and the sixth in their last seven games in total.

81min: James Brophy plays a one-two with Doughty before driving into the box and then going down in the area. The visitors are claiming the wing back was fouled by Nathan Clarke but referee Mr Coote allows play to continue.
81min: Hanson overpowers Branco to get to Meredith's long throw-in into the area before hooking the ball into the six yard box. The ball bounces just out of the reach of Davies in the middle before Brophy vitally heads away with McMahon looking to sneak in over by the far side.
78min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Steven Davies for Billy Clarke.
77min: Doughty's shot on the turn from just outside the box loops comfortably over Williams' goal.
76min: Robert shoots for goal from outside the box but his effort flashes harmlessly wide of goal.
75min: McMahon's low curling effort from a free-kick just outside the box is held by Belford on the bounce by his near post.
73min: SUB - The Bantams bring on James Hanson for Proctor.
70min: YELLOW CARD - Barry is booked for catching Morais with a late challenge midway into Swindon's half of the pitch close to the near touchline.
68min: Louis Thompson takes aim from distance but his curling effort is held by Williams.
67min: Proctor catches Rossi-Branco on the ball just outside the area, allowing Billy Clarke get hold of possession. Clarke tries to play Proctor in on goal but the pass is slightly in front of his strike-partner, allowing Branco to recover the situation. Seconds later, Swindon spring forward on the attack and Stephen Darby has to vitally nip in to kick behind after Doughty had burst into the box and evaded a couple of challenges.

57min: Evans receives the ball in space from Proctor but the Welsh midfielder's lofted cross-come-shot into the box from outside the area is easily claimed by Belford.
51min: The ball drops to Evans outside the area but his low first-time half-volley is held by Belford.

39min: Michael Doughty's clipped ball into the box direct from a free-kick tries to find the run of Raphael Rossi-Branco over by the far post but a watchful Proctor does enough to put him off and the ball drops behind for a goal-kick.
34min: Billy Clarke's lofted ball forward is headed on by Proctor into the path of Kyel Reid but the winger's cross-come-shot from a wide position inside the area is sliced comfortably wide of goal.
33min: YELLOW CARD - Evans is booked for a late lunge on Jordan Turnbull as the midfielder tries desperately to reach the ball just by the edge of Swindon's penalty area.
28min: Evans hits the roof of Belford's net with a rising drive direct from a free-kick just outside the box.
27min: Belford drops a McMahon corner right in the heart of City's six yard box. Proctor tries to take advantage of the situation but his effort from close range is scrambled away.
20min: GOAL!!!!!!!!! Bradford City 1 Swindon Town 0 - The Bantams take the lead through Billy Clarke! Nathan Clarke's long throw-in into the box bounces into the path of Billy Clarke and the Irish striker loops a header goalwards. With Lee Evans putting Tyrell Belford under pressure, Swindon are unable to clear their lines first time and the linesman judges the header had dropped over the line before the visitors could eventually clear the ball.
18min: YELLOW CARD - Reece Burke is booked for catching Barry late with a challenge midway into City's half as the ball got away from him. 
9min: Jamie Proctor plays the ball wide to James Meredith before moving into the box for the return ball. Meredith's cross is behind Proctor but the striker moves back to reach the ball and sends in a header which is held by Tyrell Belford.
5min: Josh Cullen wins possession inside the box, eventually hooking the ball across the area by the byline, but Billy Clarke's volley for goal is blocked by Bradley Barry.
4min: Tony McMahon's free-kick from roughly 25 yards out is blocked in the wall by Ellis Iandolo.
0min: Swindon kick off the match. The Bantams will attack towards the T L Dallas Stand end in the first period.
