The Bantams registered another victory in the Final Third Development League after defeating Shrewsbury Town 3-1 at a rain-soaked Coral Windows Stadium.
After Sam Wright's first half opener had been cancelled out by an unfortunate own goal from Bantams defender Kesi Omolokun, City netted twice late on in the second period via apprentice duo Ellis Hudson and Sumaili Cissa to claim victory.
The win for City's reserves means they now need just a single point from their final three matches to confirm the Final Third Development League West Division title.
Filipe Morais was given just over an hour in the fixture, while Greg Leigh and Mark Marshall featured until roughly fifteen minutes from the end.
With the rain lashing down from the very beginning, City made the stronger start to the contest.
Apprentice right back Kwame Boateng threatened first for City when he drove a strike at Charlie Bannister after a surging run forward.
Wright was next to go close when he was teed up by Cissa but the midfielder fired over from just inside the box.
Niah Payne saw a shot blocked from close range later in the half before Morais forced Bannister to tip around the post following a stinging drive from the edge of the area.
From the resulting corner delivery, the ball eventually dropped into the path of James King inside the box but his side-footed effort for goal was kicked off the line by Chris Gallagher.
As City continued to dominate in the opening period, Daniel Devine and Morais both fired wide with shots from outside the box.
The Bantams did eventually get the goal their bright play had warranted, however, when Marshall laid the ball off to Wright and the midfielder, who put into another typically industrious display, fired home expertly from roughly twenty yards out.
Marshall fired narrowly wide with a low strike from the edge of the box following a driving run but City were suddenly pegged back in unfortunate fashion against the run of play just four minutes after taking the lead.
A cross from Ethan Jones was met first by Omolokun but the ball seemed to hit off him and fly past a helpless Joe Cracknell before the young defender had a chance to clear.
City tried to respond in the time remaining in the first period but Marshall could only hit a free-kick straight at Bannister and Cissa hit an angled drive comfortably wide on the stroke of half-time.
As the rain continued to pour down, Shrewsbury, perhaps buoyed by their slice of luck with the leveller, exactly started the second half on the front-foot.
After intercepting a pass from Wright, a Shrewsbury trialist drove with purpose towards City's penalty area but his shot from the edge of the box was tame and easily held by Cracknell.
Shortly afterwards, Gallagher then fired narrowly wide with a strike from outside the box as City tried to clear a Shrewsbury corner.
City slowly imposed themselves further as the half progressed though, with Bannister having to push a strike from Morais round the post after the ball had eventually dropped into his path from inside the box following a Marshall corner.
Morais certainly looked up for the game, and City's next attempt for goal came via the boot of the winger as well. After tricking and turning his way into shooting space, Morais saw his strike from just outside the box deflected wide.
King then headed over from Morais' resulting near post corner delivery.
A fantastic ball from Wright picked out Morais in space over by City's right wing barely a couple of minutes later but Cissa's shot from inside the box was tipped away by Bannister after he'd been found by the Portuguese attacker's low cross.
Morais was then taken out of the action in the 62nd minute to bring Hudson onto the pitch.
Despite City's increasing number of chances after the break, Shrewsbury nearly snuck themselves into the lead later in the half when substitute George Hassell was played into space by one of Shrewsbury's five trialists on show in the match.
The young attacker tried to fire for goal as he looked to get the ball under control but Cracknell was out quickly at his feet to claim possession.
City thought for a second that they had been awarded a penalty with roughly twenty minutes to play when Mathew Jones was penalised for pulling back Marshall.
Referee Bob Roberts initially pointed to the spot before eventually giving a free-kick just outside the box after consulting with one of his assistants.
The heavy and persistent rain showers refused to budge as the match progressed, making it more of a challenge for the two sides to create clear-cut chances in the latter stages.
Cracknell still had to be on his toes, however, to push away a drive from Ethan Jones after the midfielder had fired in a fierce shot from outside the box.
Marshall and Leigh were replaced by scholars Tom Windle and Jack Waters respectively shortly afterwards before City regained the lead in impressive fashion with eleven minutes to go.
Picking the ball midway into Shrewsbury territory, Hudson moved into the penalty area, beating three defenders in the process, before neatly finishing past Bannister from roughly six yards out.
Shrewsbury tried to respond in the time remaining but John McAtee headed over following an inviting cross into the box.
City then wrapped up the points in the final minute of normal time when a clever first-time pass with the outside of his boot by Hudson put Cissa in on goal and the young attacker finished confidently past Bannister.
