The Bantams were left to think of what might have been for the second game in succession after going down to a frustrating narrow defeat away at Coventry City.

Following their dominant display at Shrewsbury Town just four days earlier, City again enjoyed the better of the match at Coventry's Ricoh Arena but unfortunately couldn't prevent a harsh loss at the hands of the Sky Blues.

Home substitute Andrew Rose netted the winner just before the hour mark with his first touch of the match, firing in a fierce half-volley from outside the box that crashed in off the underside of the bar.

Billy Clarke nearly responded for City within a few minutes but he fired a low drive from inside the box narrowly wide after being teed up by strike-partner Jamie Proctor.

Coventry 'keeper Reice Charles-Cook then had to tip over Lee Evans' glancing header shortly afterwards following Nathan Clarke's long throw-in into the box.

City's efforts to get back into the game were dealt a blow when second half sub Steven Davies was dismissed eight minutes from the end of normal time for apparently kicking out at Coventry defender Jack Stephens as the home side lined up to defend a throw-in.

The Bantams' ten men still could have rescued something from the game in injury time but Evans' free-kick was repelled thanks to a smart save to his left by Charles-Cook.

City's best opening in the first period came shortly before the half hour mark when Tony McMahon's cross-come-shot narrowly missed Proctor by the far post.

Phil Parkinson's men did, however, have to survive a penalty scare on the eve of the break when referee Mr Rob Lewis waved away home appeals after Stephen Darby appeared to tug back Ruben Lameiras in the box.

90+6min: Williams goes up for a late corner but Coventry can clear.
90+5min: YELLOW CARD - Armstrong booked for a foul on Cullen just inside Coventry's half of the pitch.
90+3min: Evans' free-kick from just outside the box is brilliantly pushed away by Charles-Cook.
90+1min: Fleck receives the ball from Bigirimana but his low strike from just outside the box is held by Williams.
90min: There will be five minutes of time added on at the end of the match.
86min: SUB - The Bantams bring on James Hanson for Nathan Clarke.
86min: Cullen looks to play Reid into space inside the box but Aaron Phillips gets back to nip the ball off the winger's toes, putting it out for a corner.
84min: Evans' effort direct from the free-kick that follows is held by Charles-Cook.
84min: YELLOW CARD - Vincelot is booked for punching the ball away after City are awarded a free-kick roughly 25 yards from goal.
82min: RED CARD - Davies is given his marching orders for an off the ball incident involving Stephens. The Coventry defender goes down holding his leg as the hosts line up to defend a City throw-in before Mr Lewis goes over to the striker and gives him a straight red card.
78min: A cross from Reid into the box is headed out as far as Evans just outside the area and Welsh midfielder sends in a volley straight at Charles-Cook.
77min: YELLOW CARD - Fleck is booked for bringing down Reid just inside Coventry's area.
73min: YELLOW CARD - Rose is booked for kicking the ball away after giving a foul away on Reid over by City's left flank.
70min - SUB - Coventry bring on Marcus Tudgay for Maddison.
69min: SUBS - The Bantams bring on Steven Davies and Filipe Morais for Billy Clarke and McMahon.
68min: Evans flicks on Nathan Clarke's long throw-into the box and Charles-Cook has to reach up and tip over to stop the header from dropping into the far corner of his goal.
66min: Maddison plays the ball across to Rose and the midfielder sees his low drive from just outside the box repelled via a routine save from Williams.
64min: Billy Clarke goes close with a promising chance for City! McMahon's cross drops at the feet of Proctor, who tees up his Irish striking partner inside the box. Clarke fires for goal from roughly twelve yards but his low side-footed effort goes narrowly wide of Charles-Cook's goal.
62min: YELLOW CARD - Nathan Clarke is booked for blocking off Maddison with a barge just inside City's half of the pitch.
59min: GOAL - Coventry City 1 Bradford City 0 - The Bantams are stunned when Rose gives Coventry the lead with his very first touch of the ball. The ball bounces kindly into the substitute's path and he fires in a fierce half-volley from the edge of the area that crashes in off the underside of the crossbar.
58min: SUBS - Coventry bring on Andrew Rose and Gael Bigirimana for Cole and Lameiras respectively.
58min: Proctor heads narrowly over the bar from McMahon's corner delivery.
56min: Lameiras shows nice skill to engineer a shooting chance with a neat flick and turn but his eventual volley for goal sails well over Williams' bar.
55min: McMahon's corner delivery seems to catch out Charles-Cook who initially comes for the cross but then steps back. Proctor and Nathan Clarke try to capitalise on Charles-Cook's uncertainty but Coventry manage to clear their lines and the attack ends for City with Evans slicing a shot wide from outside the box.
54min: Reid gets away from Vincelot on City's left wing with the help of a nut-meg before fizzing in a cross that was meant for Proctor but Fleck is able to slide the ball behind for a corner.
53min: McMahon robs Stephens of the ball inside Coventry's half of the pitch, allowing City to threaten on the counter-attack. With Billy Clarke in space on the left, McMahon elects to go right to Proctor instead. The striker lays the ball back to Cullen but the midfielder's drive from just inside the box goes over.
48min: Reid gets past Vincelot at pace over by the City's left flank and his centre across the six yard box flashes wide Charles-Cook's out-stretched glove before Coventry can clear over by the far side.
46min: Coventry restart the match.
HT: Coventry City 0 Bradford City 0
45min: There will be one minute of time added on at the end of the first half.
45min: A big let off for City. Darby appears to tug back Ruben Lameiras as the Portuguese winger goes past him inside the box but referee Mr Rob Lewis waves away Coventry's loud appeals for a penalty - much to the disbelief of the home supporters.
43min: Reid's hanging cross is attacked over by the far side by McMahon but the midfielder's goal-bound header is clawed away by Charles-Cook.
33min: Armstrong goes down in the box after Burke muscles him off the ball, the home fans appeal for a penalty but play, probably correctly, is allowed to continue.
31min: City are awarded a wide free-kick in a decent position just outside the box after Kyel Reid's surging run is halted by a foul from John Fleck. McMahon's initial delivery into the box is blocked, however, before his follow-up cross is claimed by Charles-Cook.
29min: James Meredith fizzes a low cross into the middle but Proctor is unable to get a clean connection on the ball and Coventry can clear.
28min: Ricketts curls in a shot from a wide position that sails a yard or so over Williams' bar.
27min: After being teed up by Billy Clarke, McMahon fires in a cross-come-shot from the edge of the area that narrowly misses the diving Proctor over by the far post. Decent chance for the Bantams.
26min: Maddison's free-kick from just outside the area flies high into the air off the Bantams wall. Williams is unable to gather the ball up cleanly as it drops from the night's sky due to pressure from Vincelot but City can eventually clear their lines.
22min: James Maddison tries to play Armstrong in with a sight of goal but Williams is out quickly to smother the attempted pass forward.
21min: Josh Cullen tries a shot from distance but it sails wide of Charles-Cook's goal.
16min: Darby gets in space by the byline inside the box over on City's right-flank but the defender's low pull-back across the six yard box is cleared by Romain Vincelot.
14min: Billy Clarke's low drive from roughly 25 yards out goes wide of goal.
13min: Sam Ricketts turns into shooting space inside the box after being found by Adam Armstrong but the full back's strike takes a touch off Stephen Darby before flashing past Ben Williams' near post.

9min: Jamie Proctor drags a low shot from just outside the box comfortably wide of goal.
8min: Billy Clarke robs Joe Cole of possession inside Coventry's half of the pitch before running forward into space towards the hosts' penalty area. Clarke strikes for goal from just outside the box but his effort is blocked by Jack Stephens.
