PARKINSON WANTS CITY TO FINISH THE JOB AT SOUTHEND

28 April 2016

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson says the aim for City this weekend will be to try and secure their spot in the end-of-season Play-Offs.

Following City's thumping 4-0 home win over Walsall last time out, Parkinson's men will head to Southend United this Saturday knowing that another victory will confirm the club's place in the top six.

The City chief says confidence is understandably high within the camp at the moment after the Walsall result but he knows no-one will be taking their foot off the gas.

Parkinson said: "The lads are in a good place at the moment but they are not getting carried away.

"We are concentrating on the job in hand.

"Last Saturday's result was a huge boost for us, and there is now a determination around the squad to see if we can get the job done at the weekend. That is certainly the aim.

"We are keeping our feet on the ground but the aim of the weekend is to get back on the coach after the game and to be in the Play-Offs and be able to start making plans.

"That means putting in the best performance possible to give us every chance of doing so."

When Southend travelled to the Coral Windows Stadium back in February, both sides were in with a strong shout of the Play-Offs.

Recent defeats have seen Southend drop out of contention but Parkinson knows that the Shrimpers will be keen to go out on a high in front of their own fans in their final home game of the season.

Parkinson added: "Southend at one stage were fancied to get into the Play-Offs and they have beaten a lot of good sides this season.

"On their day, they are as good as anyone so we have to be ready for the challenge.

"You know that whatever the situation, the atmosphere will always be cranked up for the final home game of the season.

"We have to be ready for that and ready to start like the home side, not on the back-foot."
