CHARLTON ATHLETIC - FOUR KEY MEN TO WATCH

9 December 2016

Ahead of Saturday's Sky Bet League One home fixture against Charlton Athletic at the Northern Commercials Stadium, we took a look into the Addicks' squad and picked out four possible key men in Karl Robinson's ranks.

Jason Pearce

: Wigan AthleticPrevious Club Defender | Position: 29 | Age:

Pearce is an experienced central defender who played a part in Wigan Athletic's promotion back to the Championship as League One title winners. The Portsmouth academy graduate swapped Greater Manchester for South East London when he signed for Charlton Athletic on a free transfer back in August.

After progressing through the academy at Fratton Park, he failed to make an appearance following a loan spell at Woking, he signed for Bournemouth on a free transfer in August 2007 before returning to Portsmouth in June 2011 for a fee of £500,000. Pearce was key for Pompey during the 2011/12 and he signed for Leeds United in August 2012 and made a total of 113 appearances (2 goals) before signing for Wigan Athletic in January 2015.

Ademola Lookman

N/APrevious Club: Midfielder | :Position 19 | :Age

Quite clearly a talented prospect in Charlton's ranks, Lookman is reportedly drawing attention from club's in the Premier League with Everton said to be one of them keen on the home-grown youngster.

The Wandsworth born 19 year old graduated through Charlton's academy and he made his debut for the club in a 1-0 defeat at Milton Keynes Dons in November 2015 before going on to establish himself as a regular in the team for the remainder of the season. Lookman managed 5 goals last season, including a brace in a 2-2 home draw against fellow relegation-bound side Bolton Wanderers.

His encouraging form last season saw him make 24 appearances and the attacking midfield player has been a regular in the side so far this season, registering 21 appearances to date and a further 6 goals taking his present career tally to 11 goals in just 45 appearances.

Josh Magennis

KilmarnockPrevious Club: Forward | Position: 26 | Age:

A powerful centre forward, Magennis was part of the Northern Irish national side that reached the last 16 of last summer's European Championships in France and he arrived at The Valley in August following his departure from Kilmarnock.

After coming through the youth ranks at Cardiff City, he made his professional debut in a 4-0 home victory against Scunthorpe United in August 2009. He made just 10 appearances (1 goal) for the Bluebirds and following a loan stint at Grimsby Town, he moved to Scotland signing for Aberdeen in July 2010. Four years were spent at Pittodrie Stadium before signing for Kilmarnock in July 2014 and during his two years with the latter, he made 84 appearances (20 goals) before his move to The Valley.

Nicky Ajose

Swindon TownPrevious Club: Forward | Position: 25 | Age:

A graduate of Manchester United's academy, Ajose impressed last season whilst with Swindon Town and he scored 25 goals in all competitions before his move to Charlton Athletic in June for an undisclosed fee.

After leaving Manchester United, he signed for Peterborough United in July 2011 but things never really got off the ground during his time at London Road and in three years he made just 27 appearances (7 goals). Following loan stints at Scunthorpe United, Chesterfield, Crawley Town, Bury and Swindon Town before a move to Leeds United in August 2014.

Ajose made just four appearances for United and spent the majority of the 2014/15 season on loan at Crewe Alexandra where he managed 8 goals in 27 appearances before a permanent switch to Swindon Town the following summer.
