Bantams boss Stuart McCall feels confident City can rise to the challenge when they play host to table-toppers Scunthorpe United at the Northern Commercials Stadium on Boxing Day.

Next Monday's traditional Boxing Day fixture will be even more anticipated in the Bantams camp as it gives them the opportunity to pit their wits against Graham Alexander's league leaders in front of an expected bumper home support.

With Scunthorpe having been the pace-setters at the top of Sky Bet League One for virtually most of the 2016/2017 campaign so far, McCall acknowledges that City will face a stern test in the festive fixture.

The Bantams have yet to taste defeat on home soil in the league this season, however, and McCall believes his side have what it takes to go toe-to-toe with the high-flying Iron.

McCall said: "I always look forward to the Boxing Day game. It is the traditional fixture that always gets the families out.

"There is also the added spice this year that we are playing top of the league in Scunthorpe.

"We want to give those supporters coming out on Boxing Day plenty of entertainment.

"Scunthorpe have build well on their strong run towards the end of last season. They recruited well over the summer and have plenty of threats throughout their side.

"It will be a real challenge for us but we know we are a match for anyone in this division on our day.

"We've shown that already this season against the likes of Bolton, Sheffield United, Rochdale and Peterborough United - sides who are up there at the top end of the table.

"We know there will be periods when they put us under pressure but, equally, we want to give them something to deal with as well.

"Getting men in the box, shots on goals, crosses into the box - the aim is to go out there and play in a really positive manner.

"It has the makings of being a really competitive game. I know our supporters are looking forward to it, and so are the players."
