Proctor swooped to head home half time substitute Mark Marshall's cross in front of the travelling City supporters roughly halfway through the second period.

Proctor's equaliser came after Valiants striker Ajay Leitch-Smith had given the home side a second minute lead when he broke City's offside trap to slot past Ben Williams. 

Evans was given a straight red card for a lunging challenge on Vale midfielder Anthony Grant around the halfway line four minutes after the half time break.

The afternoon could have got even better for Phil Parkinson's men just minutes after Proctor's leveller but Reece Burke was denied an eye-catching goal when his fierce rising drive was superbly tipped over by former Bantams loanee 'keeper Jak Alnwick.

Given their numerical disadvantage, City had to withstand some territorial pressure from their hosts as time ticked down in the contest. 

Despite the help of five minutes of injury time though, Vale never truly looked like threatening Williams' goal - restricted purely to efforts from distance - as City collected a fully-merited point from their trip to Vale Park.

69min: So close from Burke! Marshall's blocked cross drops into the path of Burke just inside the box and his stunning rising drive is superbly tipped over by Alnwick. That was bound for the top corner until the Vale 'keeper's intervention!

68min: Hooper's curling shot from wide just outside the box is held by Williams.

67min: Moving in-field from Vale's left flank, Dickinson tries a strike with his weaker right foot from outside the box but it sails harmlessly wide of goal.

62min: Hooper's cut-back finds Grant lurking just outside the box and his side-footed effort for goal takes a deflection off the diving Meredith before going narrowly wide of the post.

60min: A loose clearance from Williams following a less than ideal back-pass from Reid lands at the feet of Foley few yards outside the box. Foley gets a shot away early but Williams is comfortably in position to watch the ball fly over his bar.

54min: Sam Kelly's drive from outside the box deflects wide for a corner. Sam Foley's resulting set-piece delivery goes all the way through to Duffy just past the far post. The defender fires across goal and narrowly past the opposite post with an angled drive from close range that takes a touch off McArdle on its way out of play.

49min: RED CARD - A big blow for the Bantams here as Evans is given a straight red card following a lunging tackle on Anthony Grant around the halfway line.

39min: Evans' cross from the left is glanced on by McArdle towards goal but Carl Dickinson is able to head clear. After McMahon, Gary Liddle and Billy Clarke had combined to keep the attack alive, the ball breaks out to Evans seconds later but the Welshman's low drive from outside the area rolls wide of goal.

36min: Evans' free-kick from wide looks to pick out Reece Burke by the far post but Alnwick is able to gather up the flighted ball.

31min: Evans' direct free-kick from roughly 25 yards out is held by Alnwick.

27min: Following Proctor's lay-off into his feet from a throw-in, Evans fires in a low left-footed drive from outside the area that is held by Alnwick.

26min: Adam Yates' fizzed cross into the box is narrowly missed by the head of Dodds in the box, and then by Leitch-Smith who was lurking around the far post, as the ball eventually goes out for a goal-kick.

23min: McArdle rises highest to meet McMahon's free-kick delivery into the box from wide but the defender's glancing header goes a yard or so wide of goal.

18min: Tony McMahon heads Lee Evans' hanging cross into the box down into the path of Billy Clarke. The Irishman evades a couple of Vale players before firing the ball low across the six yard box, unfortunately just behind strike-partner Jamie Proctor.

10min: City lose possession in the middle of the park, allowing Vale to spring forward on the attack. With Vale now in City's penalty box, JJ Hooper fires across goal with a low drive that is pushed out by Williams before a stretching Leitch-Smith fires over with the rebound from close range.

9min: Kyel Reid turns his man before surging towards Vale's penalty area. Reid lets rip with a low angled drive from outside the box but the low effort rolls wide of Jak Alnwick's far post.

7min: Louis Dodds strains to keep the ball in play by the byline, crossing into the middle towards the lurking Leitch-Smith. Rory McArdle and Leitch-Smith both strive to reach the cross first before the ball hits off the striker's out-stretched leg and over Williams' bar.
