The Club are delighted to be able to confirm the appointment of Chris Royston (BSc Hons, MCSP, HPC) as City's new Head Physio.

Chris will begin his new role at the club ahead of the 2016/2017 campaign after previously working within City's physio department since 2011.

During this five-year period, Chris has been involved with the Bantams' senior, reserve and youth teams.

Following confirmation of his new role within the club, Chris said: "Having been born in Bradford, I have always felt a fondness for the club.  One of my main reasons for becoming a Physiotherapist was down to years of observing my father Paul in his role as Head of Performance for another local sports team, Keighley Cougars.

"In 2011 I was fortunate enough to be given an opportunity to work as a Physiotherapist for Bradford City AFC, as a newly qualified Physio working under Peter Jackson.

"It was in at the deep end, with a significant amount of injured players and the team situated near the base of the Football League (EFL). The appointment of Phil Parkinson gave me the chance to work in a medical department alongside the experienced Nick Allamby and Matt Barrass.

"The work ethic, knowledge and professionalism of these guys was contagious and has allowed me to be in the position I am today. Over the past five years the team has achieved a great deal of success and I have some incredible memories thanks to this.

"When the club stated their interest in offering me the position of Head Physiotherapist, I was keen to accept the role.  Now I am looking forward to an exciting season ahead!"

Speaking about Chris's promotion, City Chief Operating Officer James Mason added: "This is a great opportunity for Chris but he certainly deserves it.

"He is very well respected and highly regarded by both the staff and the players here and it is great for us to be able to promote within.

"He was the assistant physio to Matt Barrass before his departure to Bolton Wanderers so he deserves this opportunity. I'm sure he will be a great appointment for the club."
