ty manager Phil Parkinson spoke about the way he and his team go about Cithings in the summer when it comes to signing players and lining up potential signings ahead of the new season.

Parkinson is keen to make sure that supporters are aware of the groundwork and various different processes that go into signing players that have the right attributes and players that will be beneficial to the squad in ensuring the group are stronger than the previous season in preparation for next season.

The importance of not standing still in a competitive division such as League One is also stressed by Parkinson and he has the role of making sure that doesn't happen.

'What the supporters have got to understand is that there is a lot of groundwork that is taking place over the season.'

'As much as we kind of concentrate on the games coming up, myself and Tim (Breacker) are constantly speaking to people who are watching players, speaking with agents and touching base with people all along.'

'There's a lot of groundwork put in place so that when we make decisions to let players go, the decisions are based on the fact we feel we can improve the squad. Each season we've got to look to do that, because if you stand still then a team can go past you.'

'If you look at this division, teams who under achieved last season will get better this coming season. We've got to make sure that we don't stand still and it's my job to do that.'

'Edin will probably be back in the country for a longer period this time after a week away, and when we're all back together, myself, Edin and James  have really got to get down to work. We've got to make sure that weabsolutely maximize the budget that we have got.'
