Phil Parkinson's Bantams put in a superb lung-busting effort to deservedly defeat league leaders Burton Albion at the Coral Windows Stadium this Tuesday evening.

First half goals from Kyel Reid and Reece Burke capped off a superb display from Parkinson's men in the opening period. The scoreline could have been even greater for City at the interval but Tony McMahon headed wide from close range from a Lee Evans free-kick shortly after Burke's goal.

Burton had their spells of territory pressure after the break but City actually came the closest to adding to the scoring again when McMahon's penalty eleven minutes from the end was saved by former Bantams 'keeper Jon McLaughlin.

With the recalled Jamie Proctor and Billy Clarke leading the attack, City started the game at lightning pace, closing down their title-chasing opponents and forcing them onto the back-foot.

The Bantams' opening goal took only thirteen minutes in coming when Billy Clarke played Reid into space inside the box and the winger lashed an unstoppable angled drive past McLaughlin.

One became two for City just before the half hour mark when McMahon's quick free-kick gave Billy Clarke the chance to shoot, his shot was parried by McLaughlin but Reece Burke was on hand to tap home the rebound.

As expected, Burton played with a greater urgency in the second period in an attempt to get back into the game but with City still keeping their intensity levels high, they were able to keep the table-toppers at arms' length for the most part.

The scoreline could have looked even more comfortable for Parkinson's side when John Mousinho was penalised for handball in the box but McLaughlin guessed right and pushed McMahon's resulting penalty around the post.

City weren't to be denied, however, as they saw out the remaining minutes in the game to register a win that now puts them level with Barnsley in the final Play-Off spot in Sky Bet League 1.
