PARKIN HAILS EASTER HAUL

29 March 2016

Bantams assistant Steve Parkin says City can be delighted with their weekend's work after collecting maximum points over the Easter holiday period.

City backed up their impressive victory over fellow Play-Off hopefuls Millwall at the Coral Windows Stadium on Saturday with another win just 48 hours later at Crewe Alexandra on Easter Monday.

The two wins helped the Bantams maintain their place in the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs going into the final full month of the 2015/2016 campaign.

Parkin said: "We've had a really good weekend.

"We played a really good team on Saturday (Millwall) and deserved the win there on the second half display.

"We've then come to Crewe and picked up another win from another tough game. We know that Crewe have been struggling but they have the ability to score some goals as we saw at Sheffield United on Friday.

"To achieve anything in the league, you need a solid base. To get two clean sheets over the weekend - I believe that is seventeen in the league now - that is a massive achievement for everybody.

"We were a little bit slow to get into the game on Monday - perhaps that was a little bit down to Crewe having an extra day's rest over us. Full testament to the players though, they knuckled down and got into the game.

"To get six points out of six over this Easter weekend is very important."

Parkin also confirmed that Reece Burke was rested for the trip to Crewe on Monday after the defender had earlier played for both England Under 20s and City just days earlier.

Burke was replaced at the back by Frenchman Christopher Routis.

He continued: "He had a bit of fatigue, a few bumps and bruises in there as well. That is understandable though with a young lad playing Thursday and then Saturday - we just felt it was the right decision to leave him out.

"Chris did well in his place, he won his headers and was in the right position at the right time."
