Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs Semi-Final First Leg
Sunday 15 May 2016

Attendance: 19,241 (1,828 visitors)

The Bantams endured a disappointing opening leg to their Sky Bet League 1 Play-Offs semi-final with Millwall after losing 3-1 at home to the Lions.

City enjoyed a dream start in the game when Tony McMahon slotted home from the penalty spot after Joe Martin had handled inside the box.

Millwall roared back into the contest less than two minutes later, however, when Lee Gregory fired past Ben Williams after Steve Morison had headed down into the mix from Byron Webster's deep free-kick.

Morison went from provider to scorer roughly ten minutes before the break when he sent a glancing header crashing in from Shane Ferguson's near post corner.

There was still time in the first period for Millwall to increase their advantage even further when Martin found the corner with a curling free-kick from distance on the stroke of half time.

Fired up after the break, City came racing out of the blocks in the second half.

After Lee Evans had seen a shot blocked deep inside the area from a McMahon free-kick, Filipe Morais squandered a golden opportunity to pull one back six yards out when he fired wide after Jamie Proctor had teed him up.

As City continued to boss proceedings following the restart, Proctor saw a penalty appeal turning down midway through the second period despite seemingly being tripped by Mark Beevers inside the box.

Nathan Clarke twice tried to threaten from corners later in the half before Evans fired narrowly wide with a free-kick from outside the box with time running out.

Parkinson's men had one last chance to reduce the deficit ahead of next Friday's second leg at The Den but Evans' curling drive from the edge of the box flew just past the top corner of Archer's goal.
