Sky Bet League 1
Bradford City 2 (Evans 7, B Clarke 87)
Chesterfield 0
Kick Off: 12:30pm
at the Coral Windows Stadium

Attendance: 20,807 (736 visitors)

The Bantams ended their regular season of fixtures on a high note with a comfortable home victory over Chesterfield at a sun-drenched Coral Windows Stadium.

Following his winner at Southend United last weekend, Lee Evans fired City into a deserved early lead after only seven minutes with a wonderful strike on the half-volley from distance.

Evans hit the post later in the half with a low drive from just outside the box following a lay-off from the recalled Jamie Proctor.

With City still in control for the most part, Chesterfield's Sam Hird was given a straight red card in the second period for dragging down Proctor just outside the box as the striker bore down on goal.

Billy Clarke made sure of victory three minutes before the end of normal time when Proctor played the ball across goal to give the Irishman a tap-in from close range.

The victory moves City onto 80 points for the season - the first time the club have reached the 80-mark in a single season since gaining promotion to the Premier League back in 1999.

The win was also the Bantams' seventh home success on the trot in the league - something the club hadn't previously achieved since the 1967/68 season.

Having completed their list of scheduled fixtures for another season, Phil Parkinson's men will now play Millwall in the Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off semi-finals.

Following Millwall's dramatic last-grasp win at Gillingham, City will play at home to the Lions first next Sunday (15 May - 12:15pm) before travelling to the Den for the second leg the Friday (20 May - 7:45pm) afterwards.

The only downside of a sunny afternoon in BD8 was the withdrawal of Reece Burke at the interval due to a slight groin strain.

58min: Ariyibi's cross into the box from just outside the area appears to hit the hand of Nathan Clarke as the Chesterfield winger appeals for a spot-kick. With Clarke standing so close to the ball at the time and the touch off his hand appearing accidental, referee David Webb rightly decides to allow play to continue and not to award a penalty.

45min: Jay O'Shea feeds the ball wide to Gboly Ariyibi and the American winger proceeds to fizz the ball dangerously across the six yard box. Thankfully for City, there are none of Ariyibi's team-mates waiting for the cross as the ball goes out for a goal-kick.
