HANSON RULED OUT OF SECOND LEG

19 May 2016

Bantams boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed that James Hanson is ruled out of City's Sky Bet League 1 Play-Off semi-final second leg with Millwall this Friday.

Hanson is sidelined with the same calf injury that has seen the forward miss City's last two fixtures.

The City chief is more hopeful over Reece Burke and Billy Clarke, however, after the pair joined Hanson on the sidelines for last weekend's first leg.

Burke is making progress from a groin injury, while the Bantams are looking into the prospect of Clarke wearing a mask against the Lions to protect a fractured cheekbone.

Parkinson's men will travel to The Den looking to overturn a two-goal deficit having lost last Sunday's opening encounter with Millwall 3-1 at the Coral Windows Stadium.

Parkinson said: "James is definitely out, which is obviously a blow to us.

"If you look back at the first leg, we had injury problems affecting us during the week building up to it.

"James is unfortunately still out but we go into Friday's game with a chance of being a bit stronger this time around.

"Billy Clarke is looking better and Reece Burke has been involved in training today (Thursday).

"We will closely monitor those two."

Jamie Proctor has returned to the side recently following Hanson's injury and Parkinson was full of praise for the 24 year-old's performance in the first leg.

Parkinson added: "I thought he was excellent last Sunday.

"He won us the penalty in the first half with his header across goal, he should have earned us another penalty in the second half, and he created a good chance for Filipe (Morais).

"He put in a great number nine's display. If he gets the nod on Friday night, I'm sure he'll be ready to do it again."
