SWINDON TOWN (AWAY), Sky Bet League One, Saturday 26 November 2016, kick off 3:00pm

The Bantams travel south to Swindon this weekend to take on the Robins in their latest Sky Bet League One fixture.

After defeat on their previous away trip at Southend United last Saturday, Stuart McCall's men were boosted in midweek by the home victory over Northampton Town.

Opponents Swindon managed a 1-1 draw from their visit to Southend on Tuesday, a morale-boosting result for the Wiltshire-based side after a heavy four-goal defeat at Rochdale and a shock FA Cup loss to non-league Eastleigh in their previous two outings.

Swindon, of course, hit the national headlines earlier this month with the appointment of former Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood as their new director of football.

Sherwood has been brought into the County Ground to work alongside current Robins head coach Luke Williams.

Just days after Sherwood's arrival at the club, Swindon enjoyed a fantastic 3-0 victory over Charlton Athletic on home soil in of the Sky Sports cameras.

The Charlton match was Swindon's most recent home fixture leading up to this Saturday's encounter with the Bantams.

Team News:

Swindon Town
Robins midfielder Conor Thomas will miss this weekend's fixture through suspension after picking up his fifth booking of the season at Southend on Tuesday night.

Swindon duo Michael Doughty (ankle) and Bradley Barry (hamstring) missed the Southend match through injury and will be assessed ahead of this Saturday to see if they have any chance of facing City.

Yaser Kasim (ankle) is another player currently a doubt for Swindon while Jamie Brophy continues to undergo fitness tests because of breathing problems.

Skipper Nathan Thompson is sidelined with a hamstring problem.

Bradford City
The Bantams will leave it as late as possible before naming their side for the Swindon match to give Billy Clarke and Timothee Dieng every chance to prove their fitness.

Clarke has missed City's last two games with a calf complaint while Dieng was sidelined for Tuesday's Northampton win due to a knee injury.

Tony McMahon made a welcome return from injury in midweek, playing the first half of the reserves' victory over Rotherham United at Apperley Bridge on Wednesday.

Previous Visits:
Unfortunately for McCall's men, City don't have the best of recent records at Swindon's County Ground.

City's previous visit to Swindon, coming on the first day of last season, did actually start so promisingly for the Bantams though.

Josh Morris, making his debut for the club on the day, fired City into an early lead with a well-taken strike before the midfielder won his new side a penalty later in the half.

Billy Clarke saw the resulting spot-kick saved, however, and a Nathan Byrne-inspired Swindon stormed back after the restart, the pacey winger grabbing himself a second half treble to help secure a 4-1 win for the hosts.

With Swindon and City both with at least one eye on the play-offs at the time, the two sides also met at the County Ground on a Tuesday evening in February 2015.

The Bantams had a certain Oliver Burke (pictured above) in their starting XI that night. Burke, now a Scottish international playing for German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, was making his City debut after joining on loan from Nottingham Forest.

In the game itself, Australian international Massimo Luongo fired Swindon into a two-goal lead at the break after a dominant first half display from the Robins.

The Bantams fought back with a second half goal from Billy Clarke but the hosts hung on for all three points.

City's only other visit to Swindon in Sky Bet League One came towards the end of the Bantams' first campaign back in the third tier of English football following promotion via the play-offs the previous season.

The Bantams battled hard to try and claim a positive result from the fixture but Lee Cox's goal midway through the second period proved enough to earn the hosts a narrow 1-0 win.

City's most recent victory at Swindon came back in 2005 when goals from Dean Windass and Steve Claridge earned the Bantams a 3-2 away success.

Bantams chief McCall was also part of an away win for City at Swindon, the boss playing in midfield in a 4-1 victory during the club's 1998/1999 Premier League promotion-winning campaign.
