BIG MATCH PREVIEW - AFC WIMBLEDON (AWAY)

28 October 2016

AFC WIMBLEDON (AWAY) - Sky Bet League One, Saturday 29 October 2016, The Cherry Red Records Stadium, kick off 3:00pm

After City's entertaining and memorable 3-3 draw with Sheffield United last time out, Stuart McCall's men will face another in-form side in the shape of AFC Wimbledon this Saturday.

In their first season at League One level following promotion via the play-offs back in May, Wimbledon are currently enjoying a very promising run of form under boss Neal Ardley.

The Dons are unbeaten in their last eight league games, winning five of them.

Such a rich vein of form has seen Wimbledon move up into sixth place in the League One table going into this weekend's fixture.

With both sides towards the top end of the division - City, of course, currently third in the league - this Saturday's game is, perhaps unsurprisingly, a 4,800+ sell-out in the home and away stands.

Team News

AFC Wimbledon
Striker Dominic Poleon is likely to be back in contention for the hosts after missing last Saturday's win at Peterborough United with a groin problem.

Experienced defender Paul Robinson missed the Peterborough victory as well due to suspension but he will be available again.

Fellow centre half Darius Charles missed the early stages of training this week with a leg injury but he is also expected to be in the Dons' match-day squad.

Midfielder Dean Parrett will probably miss out, however, following recent illness.

Ardley made a number of changes to his side for the Peterborough victory last time out, with the likes of Lyle Taylor and Dannie Bulman looking for recalls after starting on the bench at the ABAX Stadium.

Bradford City
City boss Stuart McCall is expected to welcome Marc McNulty back into his squad for the trip south to London after the striker missed last weekend's game against his parent club Sheffield United.

Tony McMahon has returned to training after four weeks sidelined with a thigh injury.

McCall must now decide whether the defender is ready to be considered for a place in City's travelling party.

Fellow full back James Meredith is also a doubt for the journey south after missing the last two games with an ankle injury.

Previous Visits
City have made two previous trips to AFC Wimbledon's Cherry Red Records Stadium.

The Bantams' most recent visit back in 2013 came just a week before the club's appearance at Wembley for the EFL Cup (Capital One Cup) final.

City were leading going into the final stages of the game thanks to Garry Thompson's second half opener but late goals from Jack Midson and Gary Alexander snatched victory for the Dons.

The club's only other previous visit to Kingsmeadow came the season before - the 2011/2012 campaign - with City losing out 3-1.

City fell behind via a Midson spot-kick after a debatable penalty decision but an own goal from Dons defender Pim Balkestein had the Bantams level just three minutes later.

The game turned again shortly afterwards, however, when Craig Fagan was given his marching orders for City following a second bookable offence.

Billy Knott, who would go on to become a City player later in his career, fired the Dons back in front in the second period.

Another disputed penalty award later in the half then sealed the points for the home side, Midson again converting from the spot.
