BRADFORD CITY APP AND STADIUM WIFI

20 October 2016

It is with regret that Bradford City’s official mobile application (App) is to be withdrawn from service with immediate effect.

The news comes after the EFL and InTechnology WiFi  ended their agreement to provide Stadium WiFi and provide Mobile Applications for EFL clubs due to it no longer being commercially viable.

Along with the termination of the App, the planned free Wifi for fans inside the Northern Commercials stadium via InTechnology WiFi will also no longer be fulfilled. The decision as to whether or not the club will pursue this venture directly themselves or with another commercial partner is to be looked at over the coming weeks.

From yesterday (Wednesday October 19) the Bradford City application became no longer available to download from the Apple and Google Play app stores, existing downloads will receive no further updates and content curation will cease.

A club spokesperson said, 'This is a disappointing situation for the club and our fans to be in after many had already downloaded the app and together we had eagerly awaited the launch of the much advertised free wifi.’

‘As a club we were delighted to be chosen by the EFL and InTechnology WiFi as a test case for other League clubs to showcase these modern methods of fan engagement. We worked closely with both parties to make it work and appreciated the opportunity as the cost would have been prohibitive for ourselves. The disappointment however now offers an opportunity for us to look and see if both the wifi and App is something we as a club want to offer our fans and whether we can fund it either in its entirety or with others within the industry.'

The decision does not affect EFL Digital’s agreement to build a new website (including a mobile optimised version) and provide enhanced streaming services for Bradford City.  This service will launch as planned in July 2017.
