Bantams boss Stuart McCall believes his players will be keen to respond in the right fashion following Saturday's defeat at Oxford when they face Southend United at the Northern Commercials Stadium this Tuesday.

City entertain Southend this Tuesday evening just days after their long unbeaten start to the league campaign was finally ended thanks to an unfortunate narrow loss at Oxford's Kassam Stadium.

McCall says that the squad were understandably disappointed to lose out at the weekend but the Bantams chief is grateful that City have an opportunity to try and bounce back quickly on home soil.

He said: "We were understandably frustrated to get on the coach home (on Saturday) without anything to show for our efforts.

"I felt our performance merited at least something out of the game.

"With the chances we had in the match, we could have come away from a difficult venue with all three points on another day.

"We win and lose as a team though, there will be no finger-pointing here.

"I think the fans can see that we stick together as a group and everyone is pulling in the same direction.

"The lads were disappointed by Saturday's result and I'm sure they will be eager to bounce back on Tuesday night.

"The group were proud of our unbeaten run but we must move on from Saturday's defeat.

"When you do lose a game, it is always nice to have another match coming up shortly afterwards.

"We want this opportunity to respond - the lads are just keen to get back out there.

"Southend will make it difficult for us though. They are a big and strong side and we are expecting another tight encounter."
