An injury time free-kick from Oxford United's Chris Maguire agonisingly condemned City to their first league defeat of the season.

In an action-packed and entertaining encounter, Stuart McCall's Bantams looked set to extend their unbeaten start to the campaign by a further game but Maguire struck in the first minute of over-time, curling past a rooted Colin Doyle to give the hosts all three points.

The story of the match could have been a lot different for McCall's men, however, after Billy Clarke struck a first half penalty against the bar and Jordy Hiwula threatened with two promising chances, the second of which shortly after the restart saw the striker fire wide from only a few yards out.

City still could have snatched a share of the spoils with the last attack of the game but referee Mr David Webb chose not to give the Bantams a second penalty of the match when Romain Vincelot tumbled in the box, much to the Frenchman's clear annoyance.

The defeat is City's very first loss of the season in regulation time but the Bantams still maintain second place in Sky Bet League One.

FT: Oxford United 1 Bradford City 0
90+6min: Vincelot goes down in the box after Law had flicked a cross into his path but Mr Webb is unmoved and instead blows the final whistle. Vincelot, who appeared to be possibly barged into from behind by Charlie Raglan, seems livid by the decision as the match official blows his final whistle.
90+1min: GOAL - Oxford United 1 Bradford City 0 - Maguire curls the resulting free-kick into the far corner past a rooted Doyle to hand Oxford the lead in injury time.
90min: There will be four minutes of time added on at the end of the match.
90min: YELLOW CARD - Vincelot is booked for dragging back John Lundstram just outside the box as the midfielder looked to burst forward onto a through ball.
86min: Morais gets to the byline and stands the ball up to the back post but Dieng can only head wide after the midfielder had charged forward to get on the end of the cross.
83min: Play now restarts with both Dunkley and Clarke back on the pitch.
82min: Billy Clarke and Dunkley are both down receiving a spot of treatment after clashing heads while competing for a bouncing ball around the halfway line.
76min: Maguire's resulting corner delivery is met by the head of Dunkley but the effort is kicked clear from in front of the goal-line by an alert Law.
75min: Maguire's ball into the box is headed on by Taylor in direction of Hemmings. The forward manages to latch onto the ball and hook it across goal and Darby has to play safe and head behind.
71min: Maguire's ball from deep into the box is headed down by Taylor into the path of Hemmings but the substitute striker fires comfortably wide on the half volley while under pressure from Knight-Percival.
66min: SUB - Oxford bring on Kane Hemmings for MacDonald.
62min: SUBS - The Bantams bring on Filipe Morais and Marc McNulty for Marshall and Hiwula.
58min: The ball breaks out to Josh Ruffels outside the box and the full back volleys a yard or wide of Doyle's goal.
57min: Play continues with the City free-kick and Vincelot is back on his feet.
55min: YELLOW CARD - Taylor is booked for catching Vincelot as the pair contested a high ball. The Frenchman is now down receiving treatment as a result of the blow.
54min: Taylor receives a pass in-field and fires low for goal from just outside the box but the effort is easily held by Doyle by his near post.
53min: Maguire turns neatly away from a couple of City defenders before surging into the box. Maguire looks for a second to have a sight of goal but a recovering Nathaniel Knight-Percival is able to get in the way and recover the situation. As Maguire tumbles inside the box, the home fans want a penalty but referee Mr Webb is unmoved.
52min: Hiwula misses a golden opportunity to fire City into the lead! With City counter-attacking from an Oxford corner, Marshall plays a charging a Romain Vincelot into space inside the box. Vincelot hooks the ball across the six yard box, the cross is just out of the reach of Law in the middle and Hiwula over by the far post from virtually a couple of yards out. The striker unfortunately appeared to lean back as he made connect, the ball scooping up away from goal.
50min: Maguire's well-placed pass from deep finds MacDonald in behind Kilgallon but the winger's connection isn't clean and the ball pops up nicely for Doyle to gather.
48min: SUB - A blow for the Bantams. Meredith is having to come off, seemingly unable to shake off his knock from the first half, to be replaced by Matthew Kilgallon.
47min: Maguire goes for goal from outside the area and his curling effort bounces not too far wide of Doyle's near post.
46min: Oxford restart the match.
HT: Oxford United 0 Bradford City 0
45min: There will be two minutes of time added on at the end of the first half.
44min: A sublime flick on from Billy Clarke finds Law in space deep in Oxford territory. As Law moves towards Oxford's penalty area, the midfielder tries to play Clarke in on goal but the pass is slightly over-hit and a diving Eastwood is able to nick the ball off the striker's toes.
40min: Edwards' high and hanging cross into the box is headed wide of Doyle's near post by Ryan Taylor via a flick off Darby. Maguire takes the resulting corner but Oxford are penalised when Dunkley catches Darby as the home centre back tried to connect with the cross.
39min: SUB - Oxford eventually get the opportunity to replace the injured Thomas, Marvin Johnson coming on his place.
39min: With seemingly no other viable options around him, Maguire shoots for goal from distance but the effort bounces comfortably wide of Doyle's near post.
35min: Oxford are temporarily down to ten men at the moment as Thomas limps off the pitch.
33min: Joe Rothwell's pass into the box finds the run of MacDonald, who back-heels the ball towards Wes Thomas. The former Bantams loanee looks to fire for goal but his effort is blocked straight away by an alert Darby.
30min: Hiwula fires over on the volley from roughly twelve yards out after Cullen's cleverly lofted ball over the top had played the striker in behind Oxford's defence. The striker probably had more time on his hands than he thought then.
30min: Billy Clarke's hooked ball out to Mark Marshall has Simon Eastwood interested as the 'keeper comes to the edge of his area to try and claim possession. Marshall uses his pace to win the ball and evade Eastwood's diving tackle but the winger's momentum also carries him away from the box. Marshall eventually plays the ball back for Darby to cross but his floated centre is too high for Hiwula on the far side and Oxford can clear.
28min: Meredith is now back on the pitch to bring City up to their full compliment of players once again.
28min: YELLOW CARD - Law is booked for taking his time over the throw-in as Meredith continues to receive treatment.
27min: Meredith appears to be struggling with a knock that he seemed to pick up earlier in the half. The left back is off the pitch receives treatment from Head Physio Chris Royston.
21min: PENALTY MISSED! Billy Clarke takes responsibility for the kick but his powerfully struck effort rattles against the crossbar and up into the air before Oxford clear their lines.
20min: PENALTY TO THE BANTAMS! Referee David Webb awards City a spot-kick when Timothee Dieng is felled by Edwards inside the box. Law's low ball into the box is flicked on by Hiwula into the path of Dieng but the Frenchman appears to be knocked over from behind by Edwards as he tried to move onto the attempted pass. The home fans aren't happy with the award, perhaps feeling Dieng went down too easily, but the match official is adamant and gives City the chance to open the scoring.
16min: After receiving the ball wide on the left via Cullen's cross-field pass, James Meredith drives into the box, skipping past Alex MacDonald in the process. The Bantams left back fires low into the six yard box but Chey Dunkley is on hand to clear by his near post to deny Jordy Hiwula the opportunity to pounce.
13min: Edwards' cross into the middle is met by the head of Maguire but the effort is straight at Doyle, who clutches the ball to his chest.
12min: Billy Clarke's low ball to the edge of the area from a corner is deliberately left by Nicky Law, leaving Josh Cullen in shooting space just outside the box. Cullen shoots into the box but his connection isn't clean and Oxford can clear their lines.
9min: Phil Edwards' floated cross-field pass into the box goes over the head of Stephen Darby before landing at the feet of Chris Maguire. The Oxford attacker fires for goal with a looping half-volley and Colin Doyle has to stretch up to push behind by his near post.
0min: The Bantams kick off the match.
