The Bantams picked up a very commendable point this Saturday after a committed display from Stuart McCall's men helped to register a 1-1 draw with fellow promotion hopefuls Millwall.

City lead at the break at The Den through an own goal by Millwall centre back Byron Webster but the hosts equalised early in the second period thanks a fine finish from Joe Martin just outside the box.

Nicky Law, who had earlier seen a goal disallowed following a tight offside call, nearly won it for the Bantams deep into injury time but Jordan Archer tipped his goal-bound effort onto the post.

Archer also had to be alert towards the start of the game when he pushed away a header from Law after only nine minutes.

Playing plenty of the neat and attractive football that is quickly becoming the norm under McCall, City started brightly in the first period.

Millwall came slightly more into the contest as the half wore on but it was still McCall's men who made the breakthrough three minutes before the break.

Running at Martin, Marshall fired in an angled drive from inside the area that was repelled by Archer. The ball bounced off the unfortunate Webster, however, and dropped over the line before the defender could clear.

There was still time in the half for Millwall to threaten but Colin Doyle produced a great save to tip over Shaun Williams' header on the stroke of half time.

Stephen Darby, making his first league start of the season, was required early into the second period to make a vital block from Greg Wylde's shot after City have failed to clear their lines from a Steve Morison cross.

Millwall were level shortly afterwards though, Williams' free-kick into the box was headed clear by Romain Vincelot but Martin was on hand to pick up the loose ball and drive home with a fine strike from just outside the area.

City tried to respond minutes later but Law was flagged offside as he finished neatly inside the box past Archer after being played in by Jordy Hiwula.

Following his important block at the start of the half, Darby went one better roughly ten minutes from the end.

Millwall substitute Fred Onyedinma beat Vincelot to a Morison flick on to leave him bearing down on goal. Onyedinma went to fire for goal but an alert Darby came round on the cover to make a crucial sliding block.

Millwall tried to push for a winner in the time remaining but it was actually City who came closest to winning all three points with the last attack of the game.

Mahlon Romeo caused all sorts of problems for his own defence when his looping attempted clearance up field from near his own corner flag actually end up dropping inside his own box.

Up from centre back, Vincelot was on hand to collect the ball and give it to Filipe Morais. The substitute fed Law, who turned into shooting space but his eventual effort on goal was tipped onto the far post by Archer.
