You can’t win every week, that is a lesson every football fan learns at a young age – often the hard way.

You can, however, put foundations in place that help to minimise the setbacks and allow for positivity and future success to be built.

City supporters are yet to see Stuart McCall’s men come unstuck in Sky Bet League One this term, with 13 points taken from seven fixtures so far.

There have been three victories – secured in successive outings through mid-August – and four draws – all of which the Bantams have every right to believe they could have taken more from on a different day.

Dwelling on the past is never a good idea, but it is important to note that the events of days gone by can often be viewed in an entirely different light once their true value becomes apparent and the emotions of the moment pass.

Nicky Law believes City – frustrated to have been held 1-1 three times in as many weeks – will ultimately come to realise that this run has been about more than the pursuit of victories.

He told the Official Bradford City App: “If you look at the two away games (Gillingham and Millwall), that’s probably two good points, two tough places to go against two teams that will fancy themselves to be up there at the end of the season.

“The Oldham draw, there was certainly huge frustration there because we dominated the game and thoroughly deserved three points – Gillingham and Port Vale were probably the same. The two home draws, they have probably been the most frustrating, whereas the two away days, when you look back in a few months time, hopefully they will look like good points.

“To be where we are, right in the mix, I think if you had asked any fan at the start of the season – with the new staff and the new players – I think a lot of them would have taken where we are now. The way that we have been playing is probably the biggest reason that we might be a little bit frustrated that we haven’t got more points, because the performances have been excellent.”

The exciting thing for City is that - with the club perched in third position in the table - there is the promise of more to come, with plenty of experience stepping off the treatment table and deadline day additions ready to be eased into the fold.

Law added: “When you look at the players that we haven’t been able to use yet, lads that have been at the club for a long time and given great service, good football players – and the lads that the manager has brought in added to that – there are probably five or six lads that feel they can play in the first XI. There are lots of positives. We work hard every day in training to improve so I’m hopeful that, as the season goes on, we’ll improve a lot.”
