Second half goals from Mark Marshall and Charlie Wyke proved enough to secure a vital victory for Stuart McCall's men over Bury at a sunny Gigg Lane, handing City a sizable boost to their play-off hopes in the process.

Marshall gave City the lead early into the second period when he fired past a rooted Bury 'keeper Joe Murphy with a low drive from roughly twenty yards out.

Wyke then made sure of the points for McCall's men six minutes from the end, bundling the ball home from close range via substitute Jordy Hiwula's low centre across the six yard box.

Both goals came in front of a large travelling support, as the City supporters clearly enjoyed their day out in the spring sunshine.

City's clearest scoring chance in the opening period came after just seven minutes when an unmarked Alex Jones headed over from a decent position in the box, while Marshall and Wyke both forced Murphy into saves later in the half.

At the other end, Bury's dangerous front-man James Vaughan squandered a promising opening for the hosts when he was played into space inside the box towards the end of the half.

Vaughan's wayward effort went into the packed away end behind Colin Doyle's net for a goal-kick, although the Shakers striker, who also fired wide with a chance early after the restart, felt the shot took a touch off the giant goalkeeper.

That missed chance kept the game level at the break, leaving Marshall and Wyke in the second period to once again play a pivotal role in a City victory.

FT: Bury 0 Bradford City 2
90+4min: YELLOW CARD - Caddis is booked for dragging back Nathaniel Knight-Percival as the centre half brought the ball out of defence.
90min: There will be four minutes of time added on at the end of the match.
89min: Styles' lofted pass in behind has Miller interested but Doyle comes out of his area to kick clear.
86min: Law plays the ball low into the middle for Wyke but his scuffed strike is easily held by Murphy.
84min: GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bury 0 Bradford City 2 - Wyke doubles City's advantage! Josh Cullen plays Hiwula into space inside the box, the striker helps the ball across the six yard box and Wyke is on hand to bundle home!
83min: Burgess' low shot on the turn from an angle just outside the box is watched wide of the near post by Doyle.
81min: SUB - Bury bring on Scott Burgess for Mellis.
78min: YELLOW CARD - Cameron Burgess is booked for an earlier foul on Wyke. Match official Mr Kettle let play continue after challenge but then books the Bury defender during the next break in play.
77min: Law finds Hiwula in a decent position inside the box. The striker gets away from last man Barnett but his poke for goal is blocked by Murphy.
76min: Hiwula races clear onto a forward pass down City's right flank. The striker looks to pick an unmarked Law in the middle but Murphy is able to dive on the low cross ahead of the City midfielder.
75min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Timothee Dieng for Marshall.
71min: SUB - Bury bring on Ryan Lowe for Moore, who was only brought on himself just before the half hour mark.
70min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Jordy Hiwula for Jones.
67min: Meredith's low cross into the box loops up via a deflection off Paul Caddis. Wyke is first onto the scene but his effort on the volley is sliced comfortably wide.
65min: Styles' shot from just outside the box is pushed away by Doyle.
62min: SUB - The Bantams bring on Nicky Law for Clarke.
61min: Vaughan stretches up to reach Moore's cross into the box but his looping header drops comfortably into the gloves of a waiting Doyle.
56min: GOAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Bury 0 Bradford City 1 - Marshall fires City into the lead! After coming in-field from a wide position, Marshall fires for goal on his left foot from roughly twenty yards out and the low effort finds the corner past a rooted Murphy.
56min: Moore's long throw into the box is held up by Miller following Vaughan's initial glance on. Vaughan gets the ball back off Miller but his first time stab for goal on his left foot rolls wide.
53min: Styles picks the ball up in space inside City territory and turns towards the penalty area. Making his way to just outside the box, Styles fires forwards but the rising effort goes over.
47min: Wyke looks to play Jones through on goal but Barnett gets across and does just enough to muscle the striker off the ball as he looked to burst clear into the box.
46min: The Bantams restart the match.
HT: Bury 0 Bradford City 0
45+1min: YELLOW CARD - Bury defender Anthony Kay is booked for a challenge on Wyke in the build up to that Marshall chance. Wyke receives some treatment as a result of the hefty tackle.
45min: There will be three minutes of time added on at the end of the first half.
45min: City launch forward on the counter-attack, with Jones playing Marshall into space just inside the box. Barnett comes across to cover and Marshall fires high with a rising drive that is pushed away by Murphy.
41min: Great wing play from Greg Leigh eventually sees the former Bantam tee up Jacob Mellis for a shot just outside the area. Mellis goes for goal and the effort swerves mere inches past Doyle's far post.
40min: YELLOW CARD - Vaughan clearly really wanted a corner after the near-miss. The striker continues to complains strongly about this to the referee and the nearby linesman, kicking the ball away in frustration in the process, leading to the Bury front-man receiving a caution.
39min: Bury threaten with a really good chance on the break - possibly the best of the game so far! Breaking forward in City's half, Callum Styles feeds the ball into James Vaughan in space inside the box. Vaughan fires for goal but the effort goes into the packed away end behind the goal via a touch off Colin Doyle. Despite the apparent save from the shot-stopper, a goal-kick is awarded, much to Vaughan's annoyance.
38min: The home fans appeal for a penalty as McArdle goes shoulder-to-shoulder with George Miller for possession of the ball in the City box. The incident seemed to simply nothing more than the City defender out-muscling the Bury attacker, and Mr Kettle appears to agree, allowing play to carry on.
35min: Just seconds later, Marshall drives the ball towards the near post from a wide position and Murphy has to push behind.
34min: McMahon's curling cross into the middle drops into the path of an unmarked Romain Vincelot but his first time shot from a decent position is mis-hit and sliced away from goal.
29min: SUB - Sure enough, Jones is forced to limp off and he is replaced by Taylor Moore.
28min: Craig Jones is down injured following that McMahon cross, and he looks to be struggling to carry on.
27min: McMahon's hanging cross to the far post looks to be Murphy's but the Bury 'keeper fails to gather and the ball bounces off Wyke's head and out for a goal-kick.
20min: Clarke's cross into the box drops into the path of Charlie Wyke. The striker shoots on the turn from just inside the box and his bouncing effort is tipped around the post by Murphy.
13min: Barnett is up and running again, and so is the game once more.
12min: A short injury break for Barnett allows both sides to get some water on board on this bright and sunny spring afternoon.
10min: A short corner for City involving Marshall and Billy Clarke. The latter lofts the ball invitingly into the middle but it bounces just past the far post. Any touch off a City player there would surely have resulted in a goal!
9min: Tony McMahon clipped ball over the top looks to get Jones in behind his marker Leon Barnett and through on goal but the pass is slightly over-hit and Murphy is able to gather up.
7min: Decent chance for City! Mark Marshall's cross finds Alex Jones unmarked in the middle but the striker heads over.
6min: Murphy is back on his feet and play continues once again.
4min: Bury 'keeper Joe Murphy is down and receiving treatment after bravely diving at the feet of James Meredith as the left back drove into the box.
0min: With the sun beating down on this glorious spring afternoon and thousands of City fans in the ground, Bury kick off the match.
