McCALL EXPECTING OPEN GAME

12 April 2017

Bantams boss Stuart McCall says he doesn't expect Oxford United to be holding back when they visit the Northern Commercials Stadium on Good Friday (14 April 2017).

McCall's men play host to Oxford at the start of the extended Easter weekend looking to further strengthen their current position in the Sky Bet League One play-off places.

Opponents Oxford, who made it to the Checkatrade Trophy Final earlier this month, will head to Valley Parade currently sitting in tenth place in the league table, seven points off the top six.

With a draw seemingly not a favourable result for either side then, McCall predicts that Friday's encounter could be quite an open one.

McCall said: "Oxford have had a very encouraging first campaign back in League One after promotion last season. They have also had two great cup runs in the FA Cup and Checkatrade Trophy.

"I'm sure their aim now will be to try and win all their remaining four games, finish the season strongly, and see where that takes them.

"They certainly have a squad with the talent in it to pull it off.

"Given their need for the points then - along with our own - Friday's game could be entertaining and end-to-end at times.

"A number of teams have come to us recently and looked to sit in and hit us on the counter-attack. I get the feeling this will be a bit more open.

"They will probably come and have a go at us, and we will have to be wary of that.

"We've already had two tight games with Oxford this season, losing them both, so we'll be looking to make it third time lucky on Friday.

"We have crucial weekend coming up, with the Sheffield United (away) game close after this one, but our focus is all on Oxford at the moment."
