BLACKPOOL | FIVE THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR

3 August 2017

The waiting is almost over, City's begin their new Sky Bet League One campaign this Saturday (5 August 2017)!

Blackpool are the visitors to the Northern Commercials Stadium at the weekend as Stuart McCall's men kick off their 2017/2018 season.

The excitement levels are surely set to build over the coming hours and days, but what can fans possibly expect come 3:00pm Saturday afternoon?

We take a look at five possible things to look out for!

1. We're back!
After the summer break, competitive football returns for McCall's side this Saturday. The opening day of any new season is always one eagerly anticipated by all supporters across the country, and we're sure City fans will be no different.

2. The Northern Commercials Stadium ready for action
For the third time in four seasons, City will begin their new campaign on home soil. The Bantams drew 0-0 against Port Vale twelve months ago, and who can forget the dramatic 3-2 success over Coventry City back in 2014? With another large support in the stands expected on Saturday, can City kick off the 17/18 season with victory over Blackpool?

3. Debutants?
With City making as many as six new signings over the summer, it can be expected that at least a couple of them will make their competitive debuts for City at the Northern Commercials Stadium on Saturday. Can any of them make themselves an instant hero with the City faithful at the weekend?

4. Young stars pushing their way through?
While the likes of close-season recruits Adam Chicksen and Jake Reeves could easily find themselves in McCall's starting XI, could promising youngsters Daniel Pybus and Omari Patrick push their way into contention for some action as well? Both have impressed during pre-season - have they done enough though to feature against the Tangerines? For Patrick, of course, any involvement would also see him make his competitive debut for City having joined on the eve of the Play-Off Final last season.

5. Old friends reunited
Blackpool will arrive at Valley Parade on Saturday with a couple of familiar faces in their ranks. Former Bantams goalkeeper Ben Williams moved to Bloomfield Road over the summer, while Mark Cullen, who enjoyed a spell on loan at City earlier in his career, is also likely to be involved in some part. On the other side, City duo Colin Doyle and Tony McMahon have both featured for Blackpool previously. City goalkeeper coach Steve Banks also recently worked for the Seasiders ahead of his move to the Northern Commercials Stadium.
