The Bantams have made a move on transfer deadline day by recruiting exciting German goalkeeper Lukas Raeder on a permanent deal until the start of January.
The 23 year-old moves to the Northern Commercials Stadium on a free transfer after leaving Portuguese side Vitoria Setubal over the summer.
He made twenty-seven appearances in total for Vitoria in the Primeira Liga – the Portuguese equivalent of the English Premier League.
Raeder arrives at the Bantams to give greater depth to City's goalkeeper department following Rouven Sattelmaier hamstring injury in Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy victory over Chesterfield.
He will compete for the main goalkeeper's jersey within the Bantams' squad alongside current number one Colin Doyle.
Raeder's move to the Bantams is subject to the Club receiving international clearance.
The German goalkeeper made the move to Portugal back in 2014, joining Vitoria from German giants Bayern Munich.
During his time with Munich, Raeder acted as deputy to Germany number one Manuel Neuer and was part of the squad that won the FIFA Club World Cup in 2013 and DFB-Pokal in 2014.
He also made two appearances in Bayern's first team while at the Allianz Arena.
The 6’ 4’’ shot-stopper spent a period on trial with Premier League side Southampton over pre-season.
Head of Recruitment Greg Abbott said: "Once we knew the prognosis of Rouven's injury, we knew we had to move quickly.
"The emergency loan market was an option, but our network of domestic and european scouts had highlighted Lukas as a potential candidate for the goalkeeper role.
"We knew he had impressed while on trial with a couple of Premier League clubs over the summer.
"Every goalkeeper coach we talked to about Lukas spoke very highly of him.
"Rather than go down the loan route as a short-term option, Lukas will come to us until January with the chance for him to stake a claim for a longer stay at the club."
