MATCH NEWS | DONCASTER ROVERS (H)

8 August 2017

The Bantams kick off their Carabao Cup campaign for the 2017/2018 season this Tuesday (8 August 2017) evening against Doncaster Rovers at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

Tuesday's round one tie must be settled on the night, meaning the game will go to extra time and then penalties if neccasary.

Should the tie go to penalties, it will be City's first use of the new 'ABBA' shoot-out sequence.

The new system, which sees each team take two penalties in succession after the first kick, will be used in all EFL competitions this season.

Team News

Bradford City
New loanee defender Tom Field could be in line to make his Bantams debut after signing on with City from Championship side Brentford until the turn of the year.

Field is in line to take up the vacant left back role in City's side following Adam Chicksen's unfortunate recent injury.

Chicksen is likely to be out for 6-8 weeks with a fractured cheekbone.

Paul Taylor is expected to be added to City's match-day squad after missing the opening day win over Blackpool at the weekend.

Following a bright cameo appearance from the bench against Blackpool, Dominic Poleon is pushing for a start against Doncaster.

Fellow forward Charlie Wyke is still sidelined with a hamstring injury.

Doncaster Rovers
Liam Mandeville (hamstring) and James Coppinger (dead leg) will both be assessed pre-match ahead of Doncaster's trip to the Northern Commercials Stadium.

Alfie May could step into Doncaster's attack if Mandeville is ruled out.

Attackers Alex Kiwomya and Andy Williams are both sidelined due to injury.
