18 August 2017

The Bantams welcome Blackburn Rovers to the Northern Commercials Stadium this Saturday (19 August 2017) for their latest fixture in Sky Bet League One.

With both sides tipped to be up at the business end of the table come the end of the season and a bumper crowd expected at Valley Parade, this weekend's encounter could be one to remember for all the right reasons.

Stuart McCall's men have made an encouraging start to their league campaign, winning both of their opening games against Blackpool and Gillingham.

Following relegation from the Championship last season, opponents Blackburn have taken a bit of time to get used to their new surroundings in League One.

Rovers have tasted defeat in their two league matches so far, losing out to both Southend United and Doncaster Rovers.

With Blackburn boasting arguably one of the strongest squads in the division though, it would seem a case of when and not if Tony Mowbray's men click into gear and move up the table.

McCall's side will be wary of a potential Blackburn backlash after their slow start, and City will be going all out to make it three wins on the spin and inflict another defeat on the former Premier League champions.

Team News

Bradford City
City skipper Romain Vincelot will continue to miss out at the weekend due to suspension.

Adam Chicksen is also still out with a fractured cheekbone.

Attackers Paul Taylor, Shay McCartan and Alex Gilliead will all be looking to try and push for a starting berth after playing ninety minutes in Tuesday's behind-closed-doors friendly win at Wigan Athletic.

McCartan in particular did his chances no harm by netting twice in the 3-2 victory at Wigan's training ground.

Charlie Wyke is back training with the squad after a period on the sidelines with a hamstring injury.

Following his return to training, Wyke now has an outside chance of being involved in City's match-day squad for the visit of Blackburn.

Blackburn Rovers
Experienced Scottish midfielder Craig Conway could come into Rovers' starting XI at Valley Parade after recently recovering from a hamstring injury.

Bradley Dack is another Blackburn player who could be promoted up into their line up against City.

After a hamstring problem, Dack featured as a second half substitute last weekend in Rovers' defeat to Doncaster.

Striker Marcus Antonsson - a recent loan signing from Leeds United - is in line to be added to Blackburn's squad.

Defender Darren Lenihan will miss out, however, as he continues his recovery from a foot injury.
