Saturday's match-winner Omari Patrick feels he can only get better with the help of City's staff, players and fans.

On his City and EFL debut, Patrick made himself an instant hero with the home supporters by netting the winning goal in the Bantams' opening day 2-1 victory over Blackpool at the Northern Commercials Stadium.

The talented young attacker admitted to being in dreamland after his eye-catching impact on the game - but he knows he couldn't have done it without the support of those around him.

Patrick said: "I couldn't feel any better - it was a brilliant day.

"I couldn't have written it better, and I definitely wouldn't change a thing.

"I felt over the moon when the ball went in (for the goal). The atmosphere was amazing - it was quite emotional.

"I certainly felt more confident as the play went on. I felt I could be more myself.

"The crowd gave me that confidence. My team-mates helped as well.

"They gave me that belief to be more composed on the ball and not worry about doing the wrong thing.

"I learned so much from the just first half going into the second half.

"As I get more and more game experience, I feel I can get better and better.

"With the help of the gaffer, the staff and my team-mates, I can get more confident in myself and my game.

"I am buzzing for the season ahead now, but my main focus at the moment is just to work hard and stay in the squad."
