McCALL GIVES INJURY UPDATE

31 August 2017

Ahead of Saturday's (2 September 2017) fixture with Bristol Rovers at the Northern Commercials Stadium, Bantams boss Stuart McCall says that Timothee Dieng and Rouven Sattelmaier are the only players within his squad currently set for a period on the sidelines.

Sattelmaier could be sidelined for at least six weeks after injuring his hamstring in Tuesday's Checkatrade Trophy win at Chesterfield.

Dieng, who has missed City's last two games, is likely to be out for the next couple of weeks at best due to a calf problem picked up in the closing stages of the recent Blackburn Rovers home game.

Tom Field is making progress from a hamstring problem, however, and Adam Chicksen is back in full contact training for the first time since fracturing his cheekbone on the opening day.

After returning from suspension in the Chesterfield victory, Romain Vincelot is likely to stay in City's team for the visit of Bristol Rovers to Valley Parade.

McCall said: "To have our captain back, Romain, is obviously a big boost.

"He gives us an extra option in midfield, and we can also play him in defence as part of a two or a three.

"We will certainly benefit from the power of Romain and Charlie (Wyke) back in the side.

"Adam (Chicksen) joined in with contact training for the first time today (Thursday) wearing his mask.

"He felt quite comfortable with it. He's been doing a lot of fitness work recently.

"Tom Field, who we initially felt might be out for a little while, managed to join in with the warm up and then do some work with the fitness coach.

"If there was any real pull or tear in there, he wouldn't have been able to do what he did.

"As long as he doesn't have any adverse reaction to that work, Tom should be back available for Saturday.

"Tim (Dieng) picked up a calf problem right at the very end of the Blackburn game.

"Checking on the injury afterwards, we've found he's got a little tear in there.

"He will be looking at a minimum of three weeks, maybe four weeks, out from when it happened (the Blackburn game).

"With Rouven (Sattelmaier), we're waiting on the results of his scan.

"Listening to the physios though, it seems it could be anything from six weeks onwards.

"We will know more when we get the scan results, but it appears it could be a grade three tear, which is usually six-to-eight weeks."
