FIELD COMPLETES CITY LOAN MOVE

7 August 2017

Promising left back Tom Field has joined the Bantams on loan from Championship side Brentford.

Field, 20, completed the necessary paperwork this Monday to keep him at the Northern Commercials Stadium until the start of January.

The defender, who has been capped at Under-16 level for the Republic of Ireland, featured seventeen times for Brentford last season.

Fifteen of those appearances came in the Championship for the Bees, who finished tenth in the division at the end of the 2016/2017 campaign.

Field, who will wear squad number 15 during his time at Valley Parade, also netted three times for Brentford last season.

Subject to receiving the relevant clearances, Field could be in line to make his City debut on Tuesday night against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup following Adam Chicksen's unfortunate injury at the weekend.

Speaking about the new recruit, Bantams boss Stuart McCall said: "We got some positive news on Saturday with the fact that Adam (Chicksen) hasn't suffered any injury to his brain or neck.

"He has suffered a fractured cheekbone, however, which will obviously keep him out of the side for a period of time.

"It is hard to say for certain at this stage but it is looking like he will miss the next 6-8 weeks.

"I spoke with Greg (Abbott) after the game on Saturday to tell him about Adam.

"Once we knew he (Adam) had fractured his cheekbone, we knew we had to make a move.

"Tom is a player who has been on our radar since the summer.

"He played in some good Championship games last season and Brentford think very highly of him.

"I must thank Brentford for their assistance in pushing this deal through fairly quickly."

Field himself added: "As soon as I knew Brentford were allowing me to join, it was an easy decision.

"It is such a big club with a massive stadium and huge fan-base that I've heard make an incredible atmosphere.

"League One offers a different challenge to the Championship so I can develop here as a player with Bradford.

"Playing fifteen times in the Championship and coming up against some top class players gave me really good experience.

"Hopefully I can bring what I've learned into League One with Bradford.

"I feel that I am an offensive left back and that I can attack as well as defend."
